Disappointing Experience with Poor Service
As travelers who came thousands of miles to visit Bordeaux, we were hoping for a pleasant experience, but this restaurant fell far short of expectations. From the moment we sat down, the staff made us feel unwelcome. The waiter asked us repeatedly—every 10 minutes or so—if we were going to order food, even though we were just trying to relax with a glass of wine and a cheese platter after a long day.
As a customer, I believe it’s my decision when or whether to order dinner. The staff’s rude demeanor and persistent interruptions made it impossible to enjoy our time. Their body language and facial expressions clearly communicated that they were impatient with us, treating us as though they were doing us a favor by letting us be there. This is not how guests should be treated, regardless of what they order or where they’re from.
We ended up paying 30€ for a very uncomfortable 20-minute stay, with the constant feeling that we weren’t welcome. We had actually intended to stay for dinner, but the way we were treated made it impossible to continue. Ironically, even some of the most renowned Michelin-starred chefs treat their guests with more humility and warmth than the staff at this place.
To the management: if you want people to return or recommend your establishment, you should treat all customers with kindness and respect. Your service, not our choice of orders, is what drove us away. It’s a shame for your city, especially when all our other experiences here have been much more positive.

We had a terrible experience at Big Bistrot Girondin. Only 1.5 hours before closing, the bartender informed us they wouldn't seat us. Disappointingly, they then seated a French couple who arrived after us. This blatant disregard for us, especially considering we weren't even close to closing time, left us feeling unwelcome and discriminated against.
It's impossible to say for sure, but the timing and the seating of the French couple after us suggests prejudice against American and Indian customers.
If you're visiting Bordeaux and aren't French, I would strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant altogether. There are many other welcoming places in the city that won't turn you away based on your...
Read moreWe had lunch here. Everyone ordered the plat de jour for 14€ (chicken leg & taboulé today). We all enjoyed the food and it was a good sized portion. The sangria blanc was also quite good (1 glas for 7€). BUT: The pornstar martini was not what it‘s supposed to be. No proper glas, no champagne in a shot glass on the side (no prosecco/ champagne in the drink at all), no half of a passion fruit and the drink was watered down with ice. You could taste the passion fruit and vanilla a little bit but it could have also been any juice cocktail with some vodka. Hence, I was overall torn with the star situation but decided for 4 stars. If I had only had the pornstar martini, it would have been 1...
