It is not the first time that ppl there treat us like dogs, but you know, youre french so you get used to even if you dont agree, you have to deal with it or leave. But this time I am really really pied. I live really close by and sometimes, and even if it expensive we go there and have a coffee because of the sight and because they are the only one open quite late. Anyway, I went there with an American friend. I ask for a "demi" wich means half pint. When you ask this anywhere in the world they bring you the classic lager, it is pretty basic to understand that. But I was speaking english, did he think I was a toursit also? So half an hour later, because it is their specialty there, you wait 30 minutes for a coffee and stuff (and they treat you always like st, this is the way they do and it is worst there than anywhere else in bordeaux or even france), they bring me this beer like 5 euros half pint of abbey beer.
I am a girl, do I look I like abbey beer ? it is 30 degre in here, bring me old lagger !
So I said, escuse me but I didnt ask for this and he repplied with this cantankerous frenchness : "You didnt specify" ! WTF ???? Yes I did, I ask for a demi ! So I went inside and explain this. I explain that I am not a tourist blabla. The waiter look at me and cantankerously said : I never said I wont change it ! (yeay speak to my hand ...) The boss said, ok, I change it.
Well, I paid cash, I checked coz it was like 3-4 coins and he took it only to come back 10 minutes later throwing the coin at me saying this is not euro, giving me a chilean peso ! ARE YOU KIDDING ME ????? REALLY ???
OK, next :
last time we went with friends late, we wanted a wiskey or brandy or sth like that to go with the cigar, which is really expensive in this place, but we were with goods foreign friends and you enjoy your night. Well the seats were still wet from the rain, I ask the waiter can me seat outside, he throw at me a towel and said : if you want you have to dry them yourself ! Come on I am going to spend undreds of euros in 6 whatever you have in cognac brandy and you treat me like that ??? Obviously we left.
and I can go on and on about this place.
I will never go back again, I will make my coffee at home and bring a table dowstairs and have my coffee on the street if I fancy it but no way ! It is convinient and that the only thing why I was so stupid before to even think of coming back.
And if you are a tourist, go in front of the grand theatre, to the hotel. It is the same price, and they give you some mini specialties from the region and the coffee is 100 times better than anywhere else. Or find another bar around. Or come home ! we have good whiskey and...
Read moreA leisurely Saturday evening meal here watching the world go by. I had the Tartare de Boeuf and it was very tasty, especially washed down nicely with a glass of Bordeaux Red and of course some water! Service was lovely. I was served by the lovely and very attentive, Maxence who made me feel at ease trying to make my order in French. I was very impressed with how observant he was too - I dropped my knife part way through the meal and within seconds he had replaced it with a new one. All the servers were jolly too. Excellent...
Read moreRidiculous prices, €7 for a small glass of orange juice! Ordered a toastie, specifically asked if it wasn't too large or too cheesy, got the reply that it wasn't on both counts and what arrived was a huge, oil-dripping thing which tasted like plastic. Sent it back and got the message "it's not our problem if you didn't like it". Turned out the toastie was also €7!!! And they wouldn't replace it with a croissant after the complaint and still had to pay for it. We would definitly not...
