We love Asian food and eat it every chance we get. Unfortunately, Europe has very few Asian restaurants. We were delighted to find this one!
We made reservations and were told they only had space inside. We always prefer to eat outside, but thought we would go anyway because we really wanted to have Asian. So glad we did!! The inside was air conditioned, nice atmosphere and good (calming) music. We LOVED having dinner inside this restaurant. We actually were glad we got sat inside as it was so much nicer (it was really hot out). Yes, the tables are close together. However, this is not uncommon in popular places in European restaurants. They simply want to be able to accommodate as many people as they can. That’s understandable. However, we did note that they did a fantastic job of spacing customers out. We never felt crowded in.
The food! Oh the food!!!! We started with the raw shrimp rolls, which are actually Vietnamese spring/hand rolls. They were fresh and perfect flavor!! We also had the Shrimp papaya salad. Yum!! Fresh and full of flavor! For my entree, I had chicken curry. Excellent flavor and chicken was so tender. My partner had the stir fried shrimp in sweet and sour sauce. I’m usually not a fan of sweet/sour sauce, but this was excellent! We also had the stir friend vegetables. Again…fresh and full of flavor. We were recommended a white wine, which went perfect with our meal and was very good! We finished the meal with dessert. They did not disappoint. Apple fritters and mango ice cream in coconut soup. Both wonderful and not too sweet. Perfect flavor.
The place is a little on the expensive side, but this is Saint Tropez, so….. I will say it is worth the splurge in price to have this wonderful...
Read moreI recently dined at Banh-Hoi in St. Tropez, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what I expected. After booking our reservation a month in advance and providing credit card authorization, my wife and I anticipated a pleasant evening in a prime spot within the restaurant.
To our dismay, upon arrival, we were seated at the far end of the establishment, in an area that felt disconnected from the main dining experience. Despite there being available tables in more central and appealing parts of the restaurant, we were not offered the option to sit there. It became evident that the more desirable tables were reserved for younger patrons, specifically young women, which was disheartening and discriminatory.
Adding to the discomfort, we were seated on different kinds of chairs than the rest of the diners, which only highlighted the disparity in treatment. This felt almost like discrimination, making us feel unwelcome and undervalued as guests.
The staff's prioritization of certain guests over others based on appearance was not only unfair but also left a sour taste in our mouths. It was clear that our advance planning and anticipation were not valued.
Given the prestigious reputation and the expectations we had, this experience was a major letdown. For a restaurant of Banh-Hoi's caliber, such treatment is unacceptable. I hope the management reevaluates their seating policies and ensures all guests are treated with the same level of respect and consideration...
Read moreI have never in my life felt so disrespected as much as tonight in Banh-Hoi. We arrived with my family including small children, they gave us a table inside, we asked if there was one outside they said no and then we sat inside. The manager of the restaurant then came to our table, told us to stop asking for a table outside and that our reservation clearly stated that it only for inside. We said okay, he said kept on screaming that he had nothing but bad clients today, we ended up leaving and as we left the manager screamed at us never to come back. One of the people I was with has been coming to this place for 30 years and we will now never ever go back. An absolute disgrace of an...
