This restaurant is an absolute delight. We made a reservation at 7:30pm for a table for two at 8pm. We’d seen the reviews and it seemed pretty highly rated and those reviewers were not wrong.
We ordered from the French menu and had the caramel prawns and snail risotto for starters. My girlfriend had the snails and loved them, having never had them before and I had the caramelised prawn(s) which was one very large prawn but the caramel coating was divine and really complimented the flavour of the prawn (the prawn did fill the plate).
We both had the lamb shanks for our main and they were absolutely delicious. It came with mash and assorted vegetables and it was so nice to have some genuinely great French food.
The prices were reasonable and we had a couple of cocktails too which were excellent. Our waitress was also lovely and did very well having to speak English to us Brits. I did try a bit of high school French but I think it was easier for them to speak English as best they could than have to listen to me butchering their beautiful language.
All-in-all, we cannot recommend this place enough. It was a birthday treat and it really felt like the perfect way...
Read moreThis is a very decent and a unique dining option in the Fontainebleau area. It serves both French dishes and American dishes (with a French flair) and has most of its dining tables underground.
I ordered the ouefs parfaits for my entree which proved to be a fantastic choice. The portions were very generous and it was delicious, especially with some bread. I then ordered the duck breast which was also delicious and cooked very well.
The only reason why it doesn't get a perfect score is because the portion sizes are a bit inconsistent between dishes. My mother and I both ordered plats that both cost €22 each. However, the jambalaya she ordered had much less protein than the duck I had ordered. For the price, the jambalaya did not feel worth it in comparison to the duck. The jambalaya still tasted great though.
The service here was very friendly and our waitress was attentive. The dishes also came out fairly quickly. Despite the issue with the portions, I still would recommend this restaurant and look forward to trying more...
Read moreThis restaurant has it all - charm, ambience, delicious food and delightful staff. The cellar dining area is just gorgeous, and the food is to die for. The menu is not too extensive or complicated, and the meals are superb. The presentation is stunning and the portions are a good size without being too much. A fabulous wine list, too, to complement it. Above all, the owner and staff are what make this place what is is. They are warm, friendly and welcoming. The pricing is also very reasonable. To give this place anything less than 5 stars would be to do it a disservice. Highly recommend...
