Chez Louise Cannes — Restaurant in Grasse

Veeery rude staff and unwelcoming, unpleasant vibe towards non-French tourists - definitely not coming back to this place for this reason. We were the only non-French people visiting the cafe at that time and even though we politely tried communicating in French (because the staff didn’t speak English) we were treated differently and worse compared to the other French costumers. First of all angrily the waiter gave us a table at the way back outside even though there were lots of empty and better tables available with ocean view that we asked if we could sit at, but she angrily demanded us down to the tables at the back. Despite the fact that Cannes is a city which is visited by foreign tourists as well as French tourists, we got the certain feeling that we were not welcomed at all, annoying and interfering the cafe. This is also emphasized by the fact that the staff were super nice towards the other French guests, smiled, talked to them and gave them the tables they asked for. Besides their impolite behavior the food itself was okay, but got a very burnt piece of pizza ladière. The pastry was not as good as we’ve tried elsewhere, but alright. Not value for money. Terrible service, quite okay bread and croissants.

Louise may better check how her staff treats the customers or she will always have to fish for new ones. I came to order a few things for take-away; some croissants, a baguette and a small cake. The greeting I got was certainly without a smile. Once I started to explain what I wanted, the young female behind the counter turned around to do something else before I could order. Once I did, she started picking the croissants, and then asked me what I wanted more; so no listening to my order in the first place for 3 simple things. Once products were there, I asked if it was possible to pay with card and she said of course in a snotty way as if I were a bit dumb. Once payment, she did not mention the total sum, and just held up the part of the card reader where to put the contactless card for payment. She did not ask if I wanted a receipt, just gave me the credit card payment slip without a word, and then when I said thank you and goodbye I was greeted with utter silence and definitely no smile. Even the total sum of 9,05 EUR seemed higher than what I saw on display of the items, but I could be wrong here and didn't want to have a dispute with an already unpleasant person for fifty...

Alors, merci chefs, the food is fantastique, obviously if it's busy it will take longer, not 5 min like most of you expects, for me was worth the wait, good food needs time to prepare, the service was on spot, got dish after dish without me teling anything, the girls work hard here, they are professional but not entertaining(obviously, it's busy and they need to look after all of you, not just some " I need extra attention please" - if you need that sure go pay 50 euro for a dish somewhere else and you'll have it), and yes you have more than decent prices, considering it's Cannes esplanade with magnifique views!!
