Loka Bar Kitchen - Restaurant Cannes — Restaurant in Grasse

We went to this restaurant based on the good reviews, sadly it didn't live up to the standards at all.

Everything went wrong from the beginning to the end. We received our table and menu rather quick, but we had to wait for at least 15 minutes to order. The waiters stood at the bar chatting to one another, even thou there were multiple tables waiting to order. The table next to us left, after not having received a menu for 15 minutes. We ordered 3 dishes plus drinks. the drinks arrived after another 10 minutes, but the food took 40 minutes to arrive. And it wasn't even the correct food! We ordered chicken quesadillas, but received the shrimp quesadillas. One dish weren't delivered at all! Neither did we get any cutlery until i asked for it.

Taste was mediocre at best. Nachos were cold and stale, and the quesadillas didn't taste much at all.

We decided that we were done (not full thou), and asked for the bill. It took another 10 minutes to arrive. The bill did indeed count for 3(!) dishes. We kindly told the waiter that one of the dishes never arrived. He did remove the price for it, and the nachos were on the house. Kudos for this!

This was a bad experience overall. Maybe it was a bad day? However, we left the restaurant with a bitter aftertaste and...

This deserves less than one star. I made a reservation for one (myself). As I entered I was mean mugged by every employee. I told her I had a reservation assuming it was booked and busy and she seemed annoyed. The restaurant had just opened and only outdoor tables started to be taken. I sat down and waved the waitress over 3 times before she came to take my order. She was literally standing right in front of me and I waved so many times it was clear she was ignoring me. By the way the restaurant was not even 30% filled. I asked for a spicy margarita. She left without me even saying my food order. The “spicy” margarita was disgusting. I couldn’t drink it but still paid for it and did not complain. I waved her over again 5 times and she never looked at me. I had to grab the attention of another waitress to order my shrimp tacos. The shrimp tacos were comical. The cabbage was brown, the mangoes were not fresh …. Clearly canned and covered in sugar. I got two very small tacos that were over priced. Bad service, bad food, bad drink....

We had planned a special dinner here to celebrate my wife’s birthday — she was excited to try something different. I called ahead to make a reservation and specifically asked for an outdoor table. They confirmed it would be no problem. When we arrived, we were seated indoors.

We ordered drinks and an appetizer quickly, expecting things to move along. But after that, we were completely ignored for 45 minutes. I tried multiple times to get someone’s attention and was told, “I’m coming,” yet no one ever showed. When the appetizer finally arrived, we let the server know we were ready to order — she nodded and then disappeared. No menus, no napkins, no follow-up. No water Nothing.

After sitting there for over an hour, we gave up. The birthday dinner was ruined. Our kids ended up eating McDonald’s, and my wife and I didn’t even have a proper meal — just a plate of forgettable nachos.
