We do not like posting negatively about an establishment. Unfortunately, there is a first time for everything when you are subjected to rudeness and ridicule.
For the above, this restaurant does not deserve even half a star for the rogue behaviour of its staff. If he was the owner, I wish him good luck.
Decided to stop for a coffee when we happened to pass by this restaurant. As usual, we politely asked if we could sit for a drink. A very nice lady said yes, and showed us a table outside. It was 1.50pm. It was not crowded at this restaurant.
We ordered our coffee and proceeded to feel comfortable. We saw some dessert being served and contemplated ordering some. We hadn’t had lunch yet anyway.
Then this man came out and asked why were we seated at that table (he had a pen and a notebook, presumably he works there). We said we just ordered coffee. Without even giving us a chance to explain further, he said if we wanted a drink, we should proceed further down the lane to a pub. We were gobsmacked by “the treatment” and attitude. The man then walked inside mumbling to himself.
When the lady whom we ordered coffee from came out, we told her what the man just said and asked if it was alright if we remained. She assured us it was fine, then went inside.
Next, the same man came out again and went into agitated mode. He insisted we leave if we are are not eating and that the table we were seated at is for food only. He then proceeded to ask, what is it that we do not understand. Next, the lady came out and we told her what the man said. A very tense conversation ensued between her and the man.
We decided to collect our stuff then left.
I reiterate strongly that no one should be subjected to this kind of treatment. The man displayed disdain, rudeness, acted unprofessionally. He should not be in the...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived, we were met by genuinely sweet and polite waiters. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming – a lovely start to what we hoped would be a pleasant dining experience.
Unfortunately, the food turned out to be one of the worst meals I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
We started with fried zucchini – or what was supposed to be zucchini. What landed on the plate was more deep-fried batter than actual vegetable. It was greasy, bland, and completely devoid of any zucchini flavor. If there was a green vegetable involved, it had been fried beyond recognition.
The fish soup that followed was outright offensive. It tasted like a murky harbor basin left to rot in the sun, rather than anything remotely related to fish or freshness. It was a pungent, unpleasant mess in a bowl.
Then came the “catch of the day” – which had all the taste and texture of soggy white bread. Actually, no – that’s unfair to white bread. This was worse. Bland, uninspired, and utterly forgettable.
The tartare was the only halfway decent dish of the night. It was fine.
Dessert was the final blow. One was a generic ice cream that seemed store-bought, straight from a gas station freezer. The other was presented as “creamy caramel,” but what we got was closer to a boiled egg with caramel sauce dumped over it – and no whipped cream, again, unlike other guests.
The only redeeming factor? The wine – cheap and tastes well. Compared to the food, it was honestly the most enjoyable part of the evening.
And then came the bill. The waiters had certainly earned a tip – until they went ahead and added it themselves. Given how disastrous the meal was, had it been up to me, they wouldn’t have received a cent more. But of course, they...
Read moreWell-cooked food and good portions but all these good things are cancelled out by the way how our waitress (old lady) treated our table. She was extremely busy (or seemed to be so) and it was impossible to catch her eyes. I understand and accept that since it was the evening hour. But I cannot accept the way she reacted when I asked for the final bill. She just showed us her index finger with a meaning - come on, guys, your bill can wait but now I have more urgent things to do. But the real circus began at the end. I have read in many Google maps reviews that this place has problems with its portable bank terminal. And this time (I was in this bistro a week ago) I decided to check how they perform with card payments. They just give you a paper list with hand-written titles of plates and final sum meaning that you need to pay in cash. Ok. I carry on this list to the bar and ask for a possibility to pay by card. Out waitress picks up the terminal, insert my card and... no success ('autors en cours'). Then we proceed to the entrance since there is no internet near the bar and WC (I noticed this moment last time when I was here and paid in cash). The waitress tries to repeat the operation and the message begins that my card is not valid. It was ridiculous since I used my card this day before and after this 'lucky' dinner. At the same time when I just leave the cash at the bar some man (appeared from nowhere) paid via the terminal and they both (I mean the waitress and this guy) begin to demonstrate to me that the terminal is ok and the problem is in my card. So ridiculous! I cannot understand why having such a good kitchen you do not respect...
