The service was great! the staff at the restaurant was quality as expected at any 2 Michelin star restaurant. However, the food was not just underwhelming but actually gross. We were patient and waited for the courses to get better but it just did not happen. We tried our best to be hopeful but felt nauseous. After I think the 5th course none of us could take it and made a decision to leave. My partner actually went and got me cashews from Le Jardin at the hotel Martinez between the 3rd and 4th course as I was just so hungry not being able to eat their food. I mean that’s pretty sad! We were looking forward to this meal as it was suggested to be amazing last year and unfortunately the menu may have changed as I was honestly in disbelief that a chef was actually putting this food out. I am still in disbelief as I write this review. I brought this to the hotel manager at the hotel Martinez whose only response was, “…well everyone has different tastes.” Apparently all 4 of us on the table with seasons global Michelin star dining experiences had something off with our taste buds?
We had 4 ppl on our table and all could barely swallow any of the courses fully. It was horrible. I have no clue how these flavors go together. I have dined at multiple Michelin star restaurants including The one at Eden Roc Louroc where the food was actually amazing and not the service. Save yourself and go there instead. Unless the chef can take positive steps to change the menu...
Read moreHere the ingredient is the star of the show. All the recipes are carefully crafted around it to enhance it without denaturing it. A very delicate equilibrium and balance of flavour and texture. As a result, your senses are heightened to focus on the core and simplicity (hiding a complex research) never tasted so good. From the amuse bouche to the desserts, you are treated to a mesmerising gustative journey. Although presented in its purest form, you can feel the acute research from the chef to balance and mix ingredients and flavours. Who would have thought to marry caviar and raspberries... enhancing the metallic and citrusy aspect of the fruit taking you to a new journey vs. the usual sugary raspberry pies. Or a delightful goat cheese and honey “lindor” type delicacy to end your meal. The mains are also super with the lobster tail, the lamb which just melts in your mouth and the sweet bread which is just out of this world. The service is also great and very attentive and caring with great sommelier and maître d’ counselling to discover you on local produce (we actually had a superb wine from the island in front of Cannes). The setting is probably one of the best in Cannes as you are in the croisette with a privileged and unique view. A must...
Read moreWe have been there 2 days ago and visited many 1 and 2 star restaurants before. It is a miracle to us how the chef got the 2 stars. We had the full menu experience. The food was average, some courses ok, some really not good. Not good means boring, nothing special, nothing you would expect in a 2 star restaurant, even not in 1 star restaurant and definitely not worth it. Reaction from the chef was „very interesting feedback“ and put it like we don’t understand his cooking. No sorry, nothing, quite arrogant. The view is very nice and the service was great. The recommendation of the Sommelier was good as well. All in all due to the disappointing food experience and given the price, only 2 stars for this...
