Auberge Du Vieux Mulhouse — Restaurant in Mulhouse

I write this review as I am still sitting at the restaurant. We came to eat with my family and ordered a salad as a starter, two salads as mains, and a regional speciality as main. The service, at first, was fast enough, however, once the starter was finished we waited almost 45 minutes for the mains. When I complained, the server was very confrontational and told me that the speciality took thirty minutes to cook, which we hadn’t been told beforehand. I said that at least we should be able to have the other two salads, and she said that it was my fault because I didn’t specify that I wanted those plates early. Again, she didn’t even ask. So in conclusion, it was our fault that we didn’t know that regional dish took so long, and it was our fault that we hadn’t said that we wanted to have our food early. No one even apologized for the delay or for the attitude.

Furthermore, some of the staff doesn’t even wear a mask or wears it incorrectly, despite them asking for the health passport upon entry. The staff cleans their hands with a shared rag that would definitely not pass any kind of health inspection. During covid. And it’s not like they don’t have time to clean their hands as most of them are idle talking to each other for most of the service.

Additionally, the toilets are far from clean. There was no paper in the women’s bathroom and the sinks were filthy.

Unfortunately, since it is August, most of the restaurants in town are closed, otherwise we would have been able to skip this very...

2.5 stars! For me sometimes sad I can't give half stars but anyways......

Positive: The waitresses were very friendly. And with english/ german the communication was good. The food tasted amazing!!! Thumps up to the cooks. We had different burgers and they tasted really good the same goes for the fries.

Negative: we had to use our mobile phones for the english menu but on their site there was no english menu. With a translator app and half an hour to order we could order. But why not have an english menu ready on paper? What if the customer doesn't have the possibility to look for an english menu?!

We waited another half hour for the entree and another half hour for the main dishes.

So beside the taste everything took to long...

hier midi je suis retourné dans ce restaurant, pour la deuxième fois j'y suis déjà allé une première fois il y a quelque temps... Cette première fois j'étais resté sur ma faim.

Cependant sur mon deuxième passage c'était bien pire et je vais m'exprimer sur cela :

-Accueil sympathique mais cependant avec un manque de professionnalisme, manque de formation pour les jeunes qui viennent travailler l'été ! Une tenue inappropriée une connaissance de la carte quand même limite et un comportement vis-à-vis de la clientèle pour certaines serveuses qui est quand même désagréable à voir et à entendre !

-En entrée, j'ai pris 6 escargots... Je sais que ce n'est pas la saison mais étant donné que c'était proposé à la carte j'ai testé... Honnêtement j'avais l'impression de manger des cacahuètes, tellement les escargots étaient petits et aucun goût, caoutchouteux, des escargots en boîte. Avec un beurre escargot beaucoup trop cuit, ecoeurant et il n'a rien rajouter à l'entrée.

--Au plat j'ai pris le petit gratin de Spaetzle à l’alsacienne...

Quand le plat est arrivé j'ai tout de suite vu un gros défaut, un gros gratin au milieu avec quelques garnitures sur le côté sans sauce...

Cependant sur le côté les ingrédients avis du goût enfin un petit peu. Au moment où j'ai attaqué le milieu du plat, j'ai trouvé une crème bien trop généreuse et qui en réalité avait noyé les ingrédients du gratin.

En effet ni les lardons, ni les Spaetzles n’avaient de goût, car la crème l'emportait sur tout cela. En résumé, un plat écoeurant, aucun plaisir car aucun goût je ne l'ai pas terminé...

On m'a proposé de prendre un dessert, j'ai refusé j'ai demandé l'addition car en l'espace d'une heure entre l'entrée et le plat j'ai été plus que déçu et je n'avais pas envie de donner plus d'argent à un établissement qui ne mérite pas !

Le chef devrait revoir un petit peu tout cela car sincèrement pour le prix c'est...
