TLDR: Amazing food, cosy vibe, but the service dampened the evening. The aligot was stunning - thick and cheesy. As a first-timer, I'd say it set the bar high! :) But the service was a bit of a letdown. The place was busy, and we waited about 10 minutes for a menu, then another quarter-hour to order. Ironically, they cleared our table and sorted the bill quite quickly. Though the food made the wait worthwhile, the overall experience felt a bit off. I tried to make ordering easier by using my phone (my French is limited to “merci beaucoup”), and the waiter looked miffed and just walked away. I sincerely hope this was just a misunderstanding, and if I unintentionally caused any offense, I apologise. One other thing - while the menu lists the Saucisse de Parlan & Aligot at €23, we were charged €24, which felt a bit odd. I’ve read many glowing reviews about the service here, so perhaps we just had an off night, but it did leave me wondering if my Asian face may have played a role in the less-than-welcoming vibe we encountered.

I had a new year eve dinner here and Didier and his team were good hosts to us. The food was excellent and prepared elaborately. The “royal hare” style chicken with Chanturgue wine was the richest meal I ever had. Extremely flavourful dish and it was fit for a king. The foie gras was top quality and definitely well worth the calories! I would say this place is very catered to celebrating a special occasion. It was a pricey new year eve meal only due to the fact that it was NYE. but it was worth it. If you’re a tourist and don’t speak French, it maybe difficult to comprehend the menu but I used Google translate. Shoutout to the excellent staff who took a selfie with our phone too. That was a good laugh for us. This place is a 4.5 stars joint for sure.

A bon entendeur.

We found very nice reviews on this restaurant, especially on the Aligot. It was a major disappointment to say the least. The menu selection was poor, the food that was served looked like it was just slapped on the plate. For example the sausage and aligot mash was JUST THAT! mash slapped on the plate with one undercooked, sausage. I tried the warm lentil salad. It wasnt much of a salad as it was drenched in mustard. Having said that it was the only thing that i actually managed to eat. My husband was not so lucky. Immediately after eating it, he told me "oops, my stomach does not agree, I don't think I can eat anything else". The main meal was a total failure. I ordered the lamb stew. Well, lets just say the lamb was cooked in water, seems for hours. It was chewy, tasteless, and heavy smell of the meat was off putting. What I found really odd was the waitress. She brought the plates, left the room, then came back with the pot, then left the room again (without saying a word or serving the food). So, I thought she was coming back. After waiting for a minute or two, we realised she infact was not coming back. So, no serving, no bon apetit. Just slapped on the table. I was not impressed, but it seems the real bad surprise was in the pot. And NO we didn't get to taste the aligot, as they don't do side orders (odd!) and it did not come with...

This was a middling experience. I’d been looking forward to visiting again after a fantastic first experience last year. Unfortunately, I found the team less interested and engaging than before.

Service was generally swift enough but the little touches of pride and attention were missing. For example, our wine was poured without the standard offer to taste it first. We were also not offered a second serving of aligot which we found weird because the servers had offered it to the guests at other tables. Finally, our plates were cleared almost as soon as we were done, but the server did not ask if we would like dessert. Instead, we waited for another (friendlier) server, but by then we were quite put off by the general lackadaisical attitude of our original server that we decided to go elsewhere even though we were still hungry. I was so looking forward to the dessert because it was fantastic the previous visit.

The server who appeared to be the leader was great - friendly and warm, just like I remembered. I left feeling perplexed because the service was really top notch the last time and it was what really enhanced the experience for me. I’m not sure I’ll be back...

My friend and I got there at 7PM for our reservation. We were really exited to try this place. We were really disappointed. We got the prime rib. We added the truffles to the potatoes and couldn’t taste even a hint. We noticed right away but no one was coming by. We decided to enjoy our hot meal and just let the staff know when we paid because we thought they were left out by mistake. They told us we ate truffles. I didn’t want to argue and we paid for them. I had the garlic crème brûlées for dessert only had a bite. I strongly disliked it. It tasted exactly like the potatoes honestly but a different texture. I let the staff know and they didn’t even offer me anything else or see if I wanted to change it. Just brought the bill and it was on there along with the truffles. I ended up paying over €70. It was an expensive meal for me. The steak was fine but everything else was really disappointing. I walked away feeling like I handed over a lot of money for a meal I didn’t enjoy. No one asked us how our meal was midway though either. If they had, I could have told them and perhaps it would have gone better. I felt almost taken advantage of as I paid for things I...
