Used to be so good. Now it's terrible & ridiculously overpriced. I was there very recently.

Terrible. Trop cher et la soupe à l'oignon n'a pas un gout!!

Previously, I posted a review. Got a request for a private email from Angelina. Sent one. Never heard back. Hope they are savvy enough to check spam. Then: and oddly, my review disappeared.

Here's what I wrote to them:

I went to your restaurant Tuesday afternoon as soon as I had checked into & settled at my hotel not far. I picked that hotel because it was close.

I waited in line which I rarely do anywhere. Your people there wete great.

I had never sat upstairs. I never noticed there was one. For me, a little too dark.

I literally had just sat down & the waiter wanted my order. I politely said I haven't looked at the menu yet.

When I had, I closed it to signal I was now ready.

He passed me by several times. I finally called to him while he was at his station not 2 meters from me. He ignored me until the third time. I ordered onion soup.

It truly was tasteless. I tried putting in some salt but it didn't make a difference.

When I finished, I put my spoon on the side to signal I was finished. Another 15 minutes. Again, I had to call to him 3 times. I told him I would take the bread home so as not to waste it (per your menu re doggy bags). I ordered a Mont Blanc.

He whipped the bread away till I stopped him verbally.

(I speak French & was speaking in French).

He finally brought the Mont Blanc. It was a little challenging to eat in its paper. But there was virtually no meringue & what there was, was hard to get out. I have told so many friends who were going to Paris that they must stop at Angelina‘s and have a Mont Blanc. Best dessert ever.. or it used to be. I won't be telling them to do so again.

I had to ask for my bill after being ignored again. It took a long time.

BTW: upstairs was not full-the waiter was not stressed with too many tables at all. My new friends at their table of five 2 tables away, & a table next door (all sat down & ordered at same time but different waitperson were out long, long before me.

I immediately gave him my card when he brought he bill so I wouldnt have to wait.

I then stopped at the store, did not get a Mont Blanc to go as I had usually done in the past, & purchased 4 tubes of creme marron. I went straight back to my hotel and only found 2 were in the...

I flew 7,000 miles to have Angelina this holiday season, only to find myself very disappointed — and a bit angry — 7,000 miles later.

Dining at Angelina was one of the things I was looking forward to. Don’t get me wrong. The dining part itself was good. There was a long qeue, but we were seated within 30 minutes (not bad, considering the Christmas season). The service of the Tea Room was good. Hot chocolate was superb as usual.

The huge disappointment was the boutique. We got to the boutique section to be precise, at 6:59pm or 7:00pm, and we were still pretty much inside Angelina itself, and many diners were still having their meal.

I was looking forward to buying stuff home. And to the fellows at Angelina: I was planning to spend another 50 to 100 Euro just for your boutique. But a gentleman curtly told me and wife that the boutique was already closed, and they pointed to the section being cordoned, although some customers inside the cordon were paying for their goods.

I asked if I could still buy and explained that I had just eaten at the Tea Room. Buying would have only taken me a few minutes. I just wanted bottles of the hot chocolate, plus 1-2 canisters of their chocolate powder. But I guess this place was more interested in closing and cleaning up, and not really caring about customers who are already in front of them. They probably have so many customers, that they are willing to lose some of them because they don’t want any additional business or increased loyalty. This kind of disservice and lack of flexibility has been quite appalling, given the brand that they are trying to promote. Well, that’s the clear message the boutique sent to me. Upsetting enough that: 1) I woke up at 1:30am to write this review; and 2) To consider other brands, as my loyalty these past 10 years has been misplaced.

Ultimately, Angelina, what is an additional 2 minutes? What is a little extra flexibility? It’s funny how many tourists say that the French are not warm. So far, in this (3rd) trip to Paris, I’ve only encountered wonderful people. Does this meam that the not-so-warm ones are working at Angelina then?

I used to recommend Angelina to everyone I know. Wherever in the world Angelina is, I go when they are there, and I passionately tell people to go. But I guess, all it takes is one or two rude people to completely ruin an experience —...

Food is good (the location makes it pricier than it should be though) but the service was not as good as expected for such a renowned place.

To give a more detailed review, it's my second time here. Let's make it point by point :

The queue : expected, it was well managed and the flow was fine. The staff : everyone has a specific role and keeps to it very firmly (don't expect the usher to help you with your order, ask a waiter. They have distinct outfits). It's all a matter of management but from what I've seen, some sense of service is missing to some employees. The food : good presentation, ingredients seem fresh. The general taste is average, the desert are not too sweet which is positive to me. The place : easily accessible, the rooms are really pretty and you can enjoy a nice decor. The price : quite high. The location (touristic area in one of the most popular street of Paris) might be the reason (as the food is not so exceptional to explain it...) The service : two points. First, we asked for the bacon to be on the side : it was totally respected and put in a side plate, and I was grateful for that. Second and most disappointing thing to me : I ordered a lemonade. It is served from a 33cL bottle in a glass, but the glass WASN'T clean. It happens sometimes, so I tried to clean up the finger prints on the outside of it discreetly but it wasn't coming off, and that's off-putting. I notified a waiter about my issue (and I felt embarrassed doing it). He took my glass, the bottle and went in the back of the restaurant. He came back quickly with the same glass, fuller and the bottle a little emptied. The glass was still NOT clean and the fact he brought it fuller made me think he tried to clean it, didn't fully succeed and attempted to hide it with the drink. To be honest it felt disrespectful but I didn't want to make any fuss so said nothing more. Please, make it right for the next customers !!! Changing a glass shouldn't be so hard.

Last point : I liked the Octobre Rose desert, it's a great idea to support the cause 🎀

I rarely have bad experience, even the first time I visited was very enjoyable. I hope this kind of incident won't...

We came here for the famous hot chocolate! After visiting the Louvre, we waited about 30–40 minutes to get in, but it was worth it. The interior is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the desserts were delightful. Our waiter seemed tired and forgot my wife’s dish, but overall it was a great experience, definitely worth visiting!

Worth the hype (long queue)....? Angelina, another social media famous (FOMO) one of the must go to places in Paris. Trying to avoid the long queues, we decided to go at an off peak hour.... We came at around 1400. Line was still there. Took us about 25-30 minutes to get to our seats. At our seats, we saw empty tables in our area that were not filled for a good 15 minutes after we sat down. We signaled to a server and was told that she would be serving us soon. I guess this is mainly the reason why tables are not filled even available as the servers in charge of the area were overwhelmed, having to clear tables, take and bring out orders, and billing. Another 10 minutes passed before we finally had our order taken. From then, it took another 10 minutes for our order to come. We ordered (for obvious reason) the hot chocolate. Some reviews mentioned that the hot chocolate was watery, but ours was of a thicker consistency, not super but enjoyable creamy. The hot chocolate was not too bitter nor sweet, perfect balance, but might be bland for some that has a sweet tooth. The cream that came along with the hot chocolate when added, adds a hint of savoriness that might not be everyone's cup of tea or in this case, chocolate. Overall, it was a delicious, enjoyable, hot cup of chocolate. Next was the chocolate milkshake. Was a bit surprised, this is not the conventional milkshake that is made up of ice cream, but rather just cold foamy chocolate milk with ice. An enjoyable drink on a hot day but then again it's just a glass of cold chocolate milk. Of course, we could not not order any pastries. They had a wide selection, but we stuck to the traditional croissant that was fragrant, flaky with a slight chewiness, and similarly the pain au chocolat, with a generous amount of fillings. Dipping the croissant to the hot chocolate brings out the sweetness of the hot chocolate, and the saltiness of the croissant makes the perfect combination of texture and taste. Overall, Angelina is a more so of a specialty Restaurant/Cafe. Forgetting the hype and long queue, it is worth a visit (at the very least). We would definitely return....
