My husband and I just returned last night from our first trip to Paris and to say that this hotel was perfect for us, would be an understatement. I feel compelled to write an immediate review because of the wonderful experience we had. We stayed for one week and we were coming from the USA and were a little nervous about the language barrier since we only know enough French to just get by. Immediately upon arrival, Antonio was very kind and helpful to get us checked in right away. He even offered us a complimentary drink while we waited (Pro Tip: try any of the Alain Milliat juices, they are AMAZING and France-made).
The room was perfect for us. Very clean and fully stocked when we arrived. We had nice robes, France-made shampoo, conditioner, lotion etc. Every single day the staff would come in and clean the room, make the bed, and make sure we had coffees and necessities stocked in the room. If we needed anything, they immediately brought it without hesitation.
Since we were very tired that first night, we opted to have the in-room breakfast service the second day and it was WONDERFUL. Very delicious and filling, and it came with all the fixings you could want at a good price.
We asked one of the staff for local restaurant recommendations and we tried two of his suggestions which were great and very affordable and local. Every time we entered or left we were kindly greeted, and all the staff members were always around and available to help and answer questions and they were very patient with us. We didn't take advantage of it, but if you need the hotel will book a taxi and reservations to places for you if you enjoy that. They even occasionally called our room directly to ask if we needed anything.
The hotel itself is just beautiful. We particularly loved having the ability to open the window up in our room and have a tv to watch things at night. The room was a perfect size for the two of us as well. There was plenty of closet space for our luggage and clothing. The rooms do not have a ceiling fan if you are used to having one, but we surprisingly adjusted very well to that. The bed was comfortable as well, a nice firm mattress.
The hotel is in the BEST location to see all the important sites. We walked everywhere from our hotel and had no trouble, including to Montmartre, Latin Quarter, and Central Paris. There are hundreds of restaurants and shops everywhere near the hotel and we didn't have any issue finding everything we needed.
We had an incredible time, better than we even hoped for, and the hotel staff absolutely contributed heavily to that experience. We will definitely re-book with this hotel when we come back, without hesitation. Every single person is so nice and attentive here. Hotel La Tamise is...
Read moreI didn't want to leave! I saw on other sites people saying how small this hotel was but rest assured, it's a good thing. Hôtel La Tamise is located in an old Paris mansion converted to a hotel. It only has 19 rooms and is not as big as some of the places next door-- but this hotel and its staff have the biggest heart! The location is quiet and peaceful but close to everything- practically across the street from the Tuileries and a short walk to the Louvre and Musée des Arts Décoratifs. We arrived in really bad shape after a delayed overnight flight followed by a grueling 2 hour ride from the airport avoiding the protests via an insane detour with an Uber driver that couldn't stop braking and accelerating... over and over. Even though we probably looked utterly disheveled, we were treated very well and immediately shown to our room so we could rest and sleep. Bottled water, a little box of caramels and a lovely note on the bed greeted us personally.
I will always try to stay in an Esprit de France hotel from now on. Staff are friendly, well-trained and extremely attentive but not stuck up as I've experienced in other places. You are cared for here. They've got it just right and work hard to ensure you are comfortable.
Speaking of comfort-- our rooms here were beautifully appointed and relaxing. They are just right size-wise. The hotel is immaculately clean. Bathrooms are modern and spotless, and my favorite-- stocked with a specially formulated line of Sothys Paris toiletries that smell amazing!
The beds are very comfortable with nice linens and pillows. The rooms are quiet. When closed, the windows pretty much shut out a lot of the outside noise and during the 3 days we were here we hardly ever heard anyone else within the hotel.
We enjoyed breakfast downstairs twice. One morning I was rushing out the door for work very very early in the morning. The staff quickly made me a hot cup of tea and sent me on my way with a few little things to nibble on the way across town to my job that day. It really made my morning and our entire stay was full of thoughtful details like that that made our stay so pleasant.
It was my husband's first time traveling to Paris and I think the staff at Tamise played a huge part in making it enjoyable and memorable for him. Thank you so very much.
A few tips- It's easy to combine two rooms into a suite for a family if need be so this hotel is perfect if you are traveling with family or friends.
Breakfast here is an affordable option and VERY good, so if you are on a time crunch or not sure where to go, just eat at the hotel. They will take good...
Read moreMy fiance and I stayed at Hotel La Tamise for 4 nights in December and had a fantastic experience!
From a location standpoint, it can’t be beat - we were close (walking distance for us) to most major “touristy” destinations like the Louvre, Champs Elysees, right off of Rue Saint Honore, etc. and within close walking distance to shops, coffee and breakfast, and bars and restaurants. Of course it’s a bit touristy because it’s so close to major tourist destinations, but the central location was perfect.
The room was beautiful, we booked a Superior room and we had a great window on the street, a large bed, and a bathroom with a tub, large shower (with heated towel rack,) and toilet separate. I see complaints in other reviews about room size, but in my experience with European hotels, this was large and accommodating. The hotel also has a bar area for breakfast, but where you can enjoy a drink or two, which we did before calling it a night several evenings. It helped that we enjoyed conversation with the bartenders!
The staff set our experience apart. They were so helpful, warm during all interactions, and extremely friendly and supportive when we had some stress surrounding some cancelled flights. While we fortunately didn’t need to push our flight another day, they were working with us to potentially book another night if necessary; they also shipped my AirPods that I left in the room back, which I feel not all hotels - specifically internationally - would do. It felt like a boutique experience without being in a massive hotel or with the inflated price tag. This trip was celebrating our recent engagement and it was a nice touch that we had some treats and a bottle of chilled champagne waiting for us upon our arrival!
We had an incredible time, and we will definitely be back to this hotel the next time we...
