Pros: 🥗great food Cons: 🪳cockroach on the table
A friend and I visited Ayothaya on a busy Saturday evening and was impressed by the food. We shared several appetizers, a salad, and main courses—all of which were fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The culinary experience alone could have made this place a favorite.
However, the dining experience was overshadowed by significant issues with cleanliness and service. Midway through our meal, we noticed a small 🪳cockroach under one of our plates. It ran off quickly, and since our food was already served, we reluctantly decided to stay.
The overall sanitary standards were deeply disappointing. The basement seating area had a full view of the toilet, which also brought unpleasant smells into the dining area. The floors looked like they hadn’t been mopped in years.
To make matters worse, when we brought up the 🪳cockroach incident while paying, the response from the staff was shockingly indifferent. The woman taking our payment informed a server, but there was no apology, acknowledgment, or even a gesture like offering a discount. This level of service is simply unacceptable when you pay 80EUR for food.
It’s such a shame because the food is excellent. Unfortunately, given the unsanitary conditions and the lack of customer care, we can’t...
Read moreAyothaya Thai Restaurant in the 15th arrondissement is one of the best Thai spots I’ve found in Paris. The moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The décor is tasteful and inviting, striking a nice balance between modern and traditional.
Now let’s talk food – everything we tried was fresh, well-seasoned, and clearly made with care, but the crispy catfish salad (Yam Pla Dook Foo) absolutely stole the show. It’s perfectly crispy, light, and full of bold, tangy flavors from the green mango and herbs. It’s one of those dishes you keep thinking about long after the meal is over – definitely a must-try if you’re visiting.
The service was also excellent – attentive without being overbearing, and the staff was happy to walk us through the menu and make recommendations. Portion sizes are generous and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality.
If you’re in the 15th and looking for authentic Thai cuisine with standout dishes and great service, Ayothaya is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be back for sure!

Read moreWe ordered this dish that had a small fish along with boiled vegetables: cabbage, bamboo shoots, broccoli, fried eggplant, and green beans. I saw a picture of this dish online but couldn't find it on the menu. When ordering, we showed the picture to the restaurant owner. He said it wasn't listed on the menu, but trusting him, we didn't ask for the price and just ordered it. When we got the bill, we were shocked to find out that the vegetable platter cost 60 euros. I asked the owner to confirm the price twice, and both times he just said, "Yes, that's the price" without any further explanation, such as "Yes, it's expensive because it includes some rare ingredients, like the fish which was flown in from Thailand," or "Yes, it's expensive because we use Michelin-star cooking methods." My guess is either there were no expensive ingredients or the cooking method was just frying or boiling. Later, I asked my Thai friend, and he said, "That's impossible; they're overcharging. This dish should cost no more than 25 euros." I was really shocked. I love Thai people, but today's experience made me very sad. During the Olympics, when there are more tourists, this kind of overcharging not only happened but happened to me, a regular customer. I hope the restaurant can provide an explanation.
