Disappointing in every way! Do not recommend it!!! Even after staying here my review got worse. I booked this hotel based on the good reviews, but worst Mercure hotel I have ever stayed in. Booked a privallege room based on view of Eifel tower paying an average of €200 per night. This was a surprise trip for my mom who is visiting Paris for the first time.
Just upon arrival we were told the requested room is not available due to renovation. But they had a renovation 6 months ago too. Not sure what the cause is, but it should be mentioned on the website upon booking to make sure guest are not surprised like we were. If I had known this before I would have booked another hotel.
Unfortunately the room is tinny, much smaller than other regular mercure rooms. No docking station and no other facilities available which they advertise with. The room is not suitable for a disabled person, a wheelchair would not fit in the room. My mom has an issue with her knees and which I mentioned upon arrival but still we got a room where she had to climb stairs up and down every time we left or came to the hotel. On the day they turned down the power my mom had to walk the entire stairs up too. This notification was placed on the day itself. Rooms are very noisy. You can hear everything in the hall and the rooms next to you.
It is across the metro station which is the only nice thing about it. About 20 min walk to Eiffel Tower, but don’t ask personnel for directions as they send you the wrong way (already happend twice). Staff does not know the neighborhood. Only 2 ladies understand English the rest of the staff does not. The neighborhood is not inviting either. Every single day there were garbage bag pilled in front of the hotel. In the evening the entire street seemed to be covered in it.
The market was nice, on Wednesday and Sunday under the metro station.
But basically an overpriced room, with wall paper chipping off the walls, bad view, bad service and a bathroom that needs repair work to say at the least.
They did book a taxi for us the last day, but didn’t notify us that we could only pay in cash and not with a debit or credit card.
I would classify it as a 2 star or really bad 3 star hotel. And communication skills of the hotel...
Read moreThis hotel is not worthy of 4-stars and is more of a 1-star motel. It is disgusting, infested with bugs, mold, smells awful & lacks any sort of hospitality.
My stay at this hotel was incredibly disappointing and raised serious concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. Not long after checking in, I noticed a strong musty odor in the room and found many bugs (possibly drain flies) in the shower — a clear sanitation issue. I reported it to the front desk, and they said they’d move me to another room later in the day. I was told to return for the key.
When I came back, I was told the new room was no longer available because I hadn’t packed my bags — something no one had informed me I needed to do. Instead, they claimed the issue in my room had been resolved. That was not true: the bugs were still there and the musty smell never went away.
After escalating the issue again at almost midnight, they offered to move me to a downgraded room but refused to adjust the rate I paid. While the new room didn’t have visible bugs, it reeks of body odor and armpit, making it just as uncomfortable to stay in.
I also noticed visible signs of neglect and damage in the rooms: cracked walls, mold, water damage, and bathroom flooring lifting off of the floor, stained curtains — signs of poor upkeep that made me question how thoroughly anything in this hotel is actually cleaned or maintained. I strongly suspect the original bug issue was caused by mold buildup in the drains, which is not just disgusting but also potentially unsafe for guests. I highly suggest you do not stay here!
Between the lack of cleanliness, the dishonest communication, and the refusal to offer fair compensation, I will be disputing this charge with my credit card company. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone and would...
Read moreWe stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary- we emailed the hotel to tell them this and they made no extra effort for us. Indeed when we arrived we were told by staff lacking in customer care that we didn’t have breakfast included in our stay despite my husband showing his confirmation by email and on the app. The staff on reception did not attempt to solve this for us they just repeatedly told us no. My husband requested to speak with the manager & we were told she was on her break. We sat down to wait & she quickly appeared and solved the issue in 2 mins???! Not a great way to start our anniversary celebrations! To be fair the manager upgraded our room and told us to help ourselves to the complimentary mini bar - no charge. Imagine our disappointment when the bar in our room had only apple, apricot and orange juice!! The view of the Eiffel Tower was none existent - which was very disappointing as we had seen on here that some people had been given wonderful rooms with glorious views of the Tower. What upgrade?!! And what extra push with customer care because it was our wedding anniversary??!Again the wonderful manager moved our room the following day - this had a better view but the room itself was smaller, tatty & the bed was no where near as comfortable 🫣 we’d given up by then!! We enjoyed the many excellent places to eat around the hotel and visited the sights of Paris. It was just a shame that this hotel couldn’t meet our expectations of being thoughtful and could of easily made our stay outstanding....
