Le Metropolitan — Restaurant in Paris

I’ve really enjoyed this place in the past — I’ve had both breakfast and lunch here, and appreciated having a small table to get some work done. I also want to commend the staff: I had a wonderful server, Natalie (if I’m remembering correctly), and an older barista who made one of the best dirty chais I’ve had.

However, my experience today was deeply disappointing. I had a brief interaction with the owner regarding what appeared to be an "incorrect" charge for a dirty chai. Rather than addressing the issue calmly, I was met with what I can only describe as an unexpectedly dismissive and defensive attitude. I attempted to explain the situation and even showed the transaction, but the conversation escalated unnecessarily on his part.

Perhaps it's a matter of differing communication styles, but the tone and approach felt unnecessarily confrontational and frankly unprofessional. It's especially disheartening considering how positive my prior experiences have been.

On a related note, I would gently suggest the owner spend some time with the older barista — not only for his calm demeanor, but also for a lesson or two in how to make a proper chai.

Silence and peace was shattered on a cold & raining December morning here when a young couple sat opposite me - she hacking, coughing and spewing and he commenced vaping. I asked the server if vaping was allowed indoors here & she replied: " yes, I allow them to since they work at the market across the road" . As the vapes were coming in my direction, I kindly asked the gentleman if could please refrain as I suffer from severe asthma. In a huff, he and his coughing partner moved a few feet away where he continued to vape. I promptly paid for my tea and left without ordering the omelette which I'd been looking forward to. I was blessed to walk by this restaurant, and wow! What a treat. This was by far the best chicken I have ever eaten. Amazing escargot. Perfect drink selection and amazing service. I believe the waitress from Portugal that served us was Jessica and the owner Lucas was very accommodating and was a perfect host.
