My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of visiting Hemingway, located within the iconic Ritz Paris, and it was nothing short of a magical experience. Nestled in the heart of the City of Lights, this legendary bar is steeped in history and has been a favorite haunt of celebrities, writers, and artists since its inception.
The bar is named after the renowned American author Ernest Hemingway, who frequented the establishment during his time in Paris. In fact, it was Hemingway who played a significant role in the liberation of the Ritz during World War II. Today, Bar Hemingway continues to be a symbol of elegance, charm, and a bygone era, exuding an allure that transcends time.
Upon entering, we were immediately captivated by the intimate and quaint atmosphere, with its dim lighting, cozy seating, and walls adorned with vintage photographs and memorabilia. It felt as if we had stepped back in time to an era of sophistication and romance.
The staff at Bar Hemingway are exceptional, providing attentive and knowledgeable service. Our bartender recommended a few off-menu specialties, including the Nautilus ā an exquisite concoction that left us in awe of the mixologist's skill. The Serendipity, a signature drink at Bar Hemingway, was also an absolute delight. Crafted with fresh mint, calvados, apple juice, and champagne, this effervescent and refreshing cocktail is a must-try.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a unique and memorable experience in Paris, we highly recommend Bar Hemingway at The Ritz. The rich history, intimate atmosphere, and masterfully crafted cocktails make it a truly unforgettable destination for any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas there Sunday the 28th of september. Service is amazing. They take note of how many people make the group and wait for you with beautiful glasses of water embellished by a perfectly cut cucumber slice. Menus are beautifully printed and curated, and you can even buy one! However, thatās when it stops being awesome. The cocktails are a farce, a sham. While they look interesting on paper, each of the members of my group of 3 asked what are the spirits they typically use for each cocktail and what follows is a disgrace for their price. My first friendās was going to be Monkey Shoulder, my secondās I honestly donāt remember and, mine, El Matador, had I think Monkey Shoulder too. I tried to negotiate a better spirit, to which followed Macallan 12, Glen Moray 12, a whisky so horrid I donāt even remember what was suggested, and Lot 40. I ended up going with Rittenhouse. They arrived and their taste was bland, dull and effortless. They all were in the boozy and spirit forward section. From the beginning they were nothing to jump out of your seat for, yet also topped with ice to the point that if I did not take mine out of the glass, it would have ended a disgraceful melange of poor taste. My Matador tasted like a watered down Manhattan with no soul, complexity or body; but what remedy other than to finish it, for all of our choices resembled each other in their poor performance. Hemingway would not be happy with his...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs devoted admirers of Hemingway's literature, my father and I make it a tradition to visit his favorite Parisian haunts whenever we're in the city, hoping to capture some essence of the man and his era. Bar Hemingway at the Ritz naturally topped our list, given its status and connection to Papa himself.
Unfortunately, the reality fell far short of our expectations. While the bar trades heavily on its literary heritage, the experience feels more like paying premium prices for nostalgia than enjoying quality hospitality.
The service was particularly frustrating, when we asked for recommendations, we received evasive non-answers rather than genuine guidance from one of the younger male staffs, as if providing straightforward service was beneath him. For a bar that should celebrate Hemingway's direct, unpretentious spirit, the uptight atmosphere felt ironically contrary to everything he represented.
The physical space compounds these issues with overcrowding that makes intimate conversation nearly impossible.
For fellow Hemingway devotees, I'd suggest seeking out some of his other Parisian spots where you might actually feel connected to his memory - without the inflated prices and...
