Oh how I wish I were writing a five star review. My husband and I were so excited for our first-ever visit to Paris and agonized over where to stay. Our itinerary was to be there for 6 nights. Originally we’d thought to just stay at The Ritz, but given our trip was to be just under a month long with a few other countries to visit, we decided to go a little more budget friendly and found The Mansart just near the Ritz. The reviews varied, but we opted for their Junior Suite because the photos just oozed old world charm. The photos also showed a large soaking tub so I was sold. Some of the “musts” in our hotel choices are lifts/elevators and bathtubs because I have a connective tissue disorder that causes weakened joints. We also chose the junior suite because we would be there 6 nights and a smaller room be inconvenient. We read the reviews but none of the lower rankings mentioned the junior suite so we believed it to be the best choice. |The Pros first: the hotel location is remarkable with easy access to world class shopping, the metro and many of the tourist sites. The staff is friendly and approachable and very helpful. The lobby, though small, is well-appointed. They offer breakfast and have an honor bar in the evenings. The decor of the suite was charming and very appropriately FRENCH. The view of the Place Vendome was lovely.|The cons: Before even stepping into our room, we noticed a bucket just outside the door collecting dripping water and there was an overwhelming musty odor. By the next day, it was a full-blown leak requiring demolition, remediation and reconstruction and re-painting. An industrial fan ran almost continuously in an effort to dry the wall and carpet. The smell of mold and damp permeated our room and our clothes, which remained until our third destination where we had scheduled laundry service. This construction also called for us to allow workers access to our room at least two days. We also had hot water issues in the very small shower multiple times. (We were told to run the water for at least five minutes to heat up). I became so ill from the mold exposure that I spent our last full day in Paris in bed and ended up taking steroids and antibiotics to clear up the chest congestion the exposure caused. Additionally, nowhere in the description of the suite did it mention that the ONLY bathroom in the suite was UPSTAIRS as were the closets and safe. Need to brush your teeth? Go upstairs. Bathe? Go upstairs. Hang your wardrobe? Go upstairs. Store items in the safe? Go upstairs. Had we known the suite was two floors, we would have chosen a different room. Please note however that the management has since changed the description of the suite stating that “you'll even discover a mezzanine bathroom accessible via a staircase, adding an extra touch of charm to your stay.” This can be ambiguous and lead one to believe that there may possibly be two bathrooms and you’ll “discover” another one behind a door. You won’t. |We spoke with management about the issues regarding our stay and they were apologetic, but very little could be done to ameliorate the exposure to mold that had already occurred. I do want to note also that the hotel management emailed stating they “would like to do something” for us should we return to Paris. Nice, but we’d have preferred a reduction in our bill. |Your experience may be completely different than ours, so I will not say you should avoid The Mansart. I am simply sharing our experience when we stayed the first week in September and note again that management was responsive and is adding a notation to the description of the...
Read moreThe hotel is located in a prime spot in the heart of Paris’s 1st arrondissement. Before arriving, I had little to no expectations, but we both agreed that our experience at Hôtel Mansart played a big role in making us fall in love with Paris, we only wished we could have stayed longer.
The location is perfect: just a 5–7 minute walk to the metro, surrounded by beautiful architecture, luxury boutiques, only steps from Place Vendôme, and less than a 15-minute walk to the Louvre Museum. Everything about our stay was seamless from the comfortable, spotless king-sized bed and delicious breakfast buffet to the attentive housekeeping that ensured we always returned to a fresh, tidy room after exploring the city.
From the very beginning, the staff set the tone for an unforgettable stay. Nantida and Laura welcomed us warmly, asking if it was our first time in France and if we were celebrating a special occasion. When we told them we were in Paris for our engagement anniversary and my fiancé’s recent graduation, they surprised us with glasses of champagne and an early check-in to one of the most beautiful, spacious rooms with a charming Parisian street view.
As a Thai guest, it was incredibly comforting to meet Nantida speaking my language and offering such warmth made me feel at home, like being with family. Throughout our stay, the entire Hôtel Mansart team impressed us with their professionalism, thoughtfulness, and genuine hospitality. Anytime we needed help whether with directions, restaurant recommendations, or anything else the staff was eager and happy to assist.
We truly felt cared for during our time here. Hôtel Mansart turned what was already a special trip into one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. We are deeply grateful and will cherish this stay for years to come. Bravo to the entire team, you made Paris unforgettable for us. We will soon be...
Read moreI don't think I have given a 1 star rating before but extremely disappointed by this hotel. After travelling around Europe on this trip we stayed in 10 different hotels either 4 or 5 star, this hotel was the most expensive and the worst hotel and worst experience.
Service - the staff were very polite and friendly so no complaints at all with service.
Rooms -we paid extra for deluxe room. There was nothing deluxe about it. The room was less than a metre from the lift and next door to breakfast room/bar with no sound proofing. We were woken all night with people talking outside of the lift and again in the early morning listening to breakfast room being set up and the horrendous smell of cooked eggs coming through the door.
Don't expect to plug anything in to charge your electronics unless you want no lights as there is only lamps which use all of the sockets and if you do unplug any lights to plug your phones in do not use the switch to turn lights off as this turns off all power to the sockets so your phones won't charge.
Bathroom -dirty, mouldy tiles. zero water pressure you would be better putting your head under the tap than try to use the shower (which is over the bath).
Bedding and towels -not sure how they wash them but they smell foisty and unclean.
Furniture -classed as antiques but really just old and foisty therefore you needed to keep clothes in suitcases.
We did complain to reception and asked to move rooms but told hotel was full also told hotel rooms due a refurb after Olympics, a response that didn't really help us and just confirmed that they are aware the rooms are not good enough.
Breakfast - very limited selection crammed into a tiny room.
Location -ok but very busy area.
I normally trust google reviews but I am astounded by the rating...
