If this was based on the food alone, it would have been a much higher rating. Great briyani and very good Indian food in Paris which is always a struggle to find.
However, the service was an issue from the head waiter, Assam, who was cold, rude and more concerned with how much “business” the restaurant was making that evening rather than the patron experience.
We booked a table for people (a group of our friends with elderly people and young children who were visiting Paris), it turned out since their river cruise ended late, the young children were tired and not feeling well so had to go back to the hotel. My husband and I (not part of this group) were meeting them at this restaurant after we had dinner so waited patiently for them as they were going to be late and had elderly people with them who were struggling to walk so it was going to be a much smaller party.
First, Assam rushed us while we were still eating, saying he needed the table in 10 mins so we rushed to finish eating and moved to our friend’s table to wait for them.
Then we were informing him of the situation with the group, he began berating us saying “this is not good”, “I lost business”, my husband apologised and he continued with the tirade and was extremely rude to both of us. When I stood up for myself and asked “what would you like us to do now”, he didn’t like it and then spoke to my husband saying “I didn’t like the way SHE spoke to me” while I was standing next to him.
When our friends finally arrived he said “let me check if we still have a table” when it was clearly visible they still had one. Clearly on a power trip. And after seating them, we left but our friends told us that he stared at them the whole time while they were eating.
This is no way to treat paying customers at any establishment. He was so rude and unpleasant, that the other waiters apologised to us for Assam’s bad behaviour on our way out.
I want to call out Sandeep and another waitstaff from Nepal (I didn’t get his name) who were lovely, very warm and kind. They were sympathetic and could see his behaviour was out of line. They both would have been a much better choice for the position of head waiter.
It’s a shame one person with poor customer service and a rude attitude can ruin the establishment...
Read moreThe reason I'm writing today though I didn't have the privilege to dine in at your esteemed restaurant is because one of the waiters at your restaurant who came to attend our group was rude with his words. We were a group of 3 who wanted to have a proper dinner and since we were craving Indian Food, this was the first one that came up. Upon arriving at your restaurant, one of your waiters attended us and the first thing he said was, "this place costs 20-30€ per person, are you okay?" I seriously don't think I was dressed that bad to be asked a question of that standard and then the next thing he informed that the waiting time is 35 minutes, to both of which I said okay as we were really hungry and wanted to grab a seat at your "esteemed" restaurant but then I recalled that nothing is more important that self respect and then I walked in and politely informed the waiter that I was offended the way you attended me and I would not like to come back to your restaurant ever. He then closed the door on me saying Okay! This is utter discrimination, if you're looking for a term. If this is the way tourists are treated at your restaurant, then I don't think you should be running the place anymore because it not only tarnishes your restaurant's name but our...
Read moreI recently dined at this restaurant on my own and had a truly delightful experience. The food was excellent, and the service made the visit even more enjoyable. I was warmly assisted by the waiter, Anish, who very kindly guided me on what would be suitable to order for one person. His recommendations turned out to be absolutely perfect.
I chose the salmon hariyali along with the olan biryani. The salmon hariyali was outstanding — beautifully cooked, full of flavour, and served with a refreshing side salad that complemented the dish wonderfully. The mint chutney that accompanied it was particularly delicious, adding a fresh and zesty touch to every bite. The olan biryani, though simple, was also very enjoyable, offering a comforting and well-balanced taste.
What stood out just as much as the food was the service. All of the waiters I encountered were exceptionally kind, polite, and welcoming, which made dining alone feel very comfortable. In particular, Anish and Ali were both extremely attentive and friendly, ensuring that my experience was smooth from start to finish.
Overall, it was a fantastic meal paired with outstanding hospitality. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking both excellent food and genuinely...
