I was at café Jacques on June 4, at 16:00-ish. Service was non existent : waited to be seated, then one serveuse A asked us how many and asked us to wait for the table to be cleaned. That was fine. In the meantime, another younger receptionist showed us our table, tidy it up for us. Sat, never got service. No one took our order. Four tables that arrived after us ordered, got served, even foods or drinks arrived. Then even the French lady who arrived later sitting next to us sensed something was wrong and was kind enough spoke on our behalf with another serveuse, and that serveuse said she was not in charge of our table. On the other hand, the young receptionist didn't take order. Well, all things considered, I think it is highly likely that the original serveuse 5 feet 8, fair skin tone, with a bit crossed eyes acted out of spite and didn't serve us on purpose, because we disobeyed and her authority. But wait, it's your coworker brought us to our table and we never forced ourselves in ! I think that serveuse was a lunatic, and was barking on the wrong tree. Never again...
Read moreI am certainly not satisfied with the care of the staff here. When we arrived and were seated, we had to wait for over five minutes to have our order taken. We kept looking at the waiters but passed by not even looking at us. At one point, a waitress came over and took our order. The food tasted good, but it was expensive. After eating, we asked for the bill. The waitress placed the bill on our table, we paid and, without saying “thank you” or “goodbye”, she dashed off. As a result, we left disappointed and unsatisfied with the service. We didn’t feel welcome. I don’t feel that I will ever return to this cafe or recommend it to anyone. I have read some of the previous reviews and they resonate with us. Unfortunately, although they complain about the service and the answers from the staff promised that they would work on improving the service, everything continues to be the same from the experience that we had. There are so many other better places to go to in Paris where the service is good and the prices are fairer that I would not waste my time and money...
Read moreCame to grab coffee and then lunch whilst waiting for friends before we went to Musée du quai Branly. The cafe looks lovely and bright and I was ready to relax after a morning of walking.
The family infront of me (dressed lovely) was greeted & seated with a smile by the host. While I waited a waitress approched the counter, looked once at me and threw a menu down quite hard ontop of the others infront of me and then walked in the opposite direction. The host then approched a few moments later, without a smile and greeted me asking if I was here for lunch and coffee. I requested coffee to start but before I had the chance to say I was hungry he inserted rather abruptly that "coffee comes after lunch at three o'clock". Odd I thought as the table behind him all had coffees and it was 12:30. At that point I got the feeling I wasn't welcome and walked out.
This cafe and its team seems to offer the total Parisan cliche experience! In this modern world behavior like this is unacceptable.
Never judge a book by its cover, you have no idea who your...
