Park Hyatt Vendome is a special place for me - I’ve stayed here since I was young, and even when I am at a different hotel, I come to Cafe Jeanne for the good quality to price and the atmosphere / memories.
I came back for the first time in 8 months, and it was disappointing.
First of all the food prices have increased quite a lot, and the food itself was not good - I had the chicken which was very dry. Before this, I had been impressed every time with how good the food was, and this time it was truly mediocre.
To top this off, the server who helped me pay asked if I wanted to add anything to tip. I travel in various parts of France, mostly in Paris, every 1-2 months at the least and am extremely upset every time the non-French customers are asked if they want to tip - because I know the waiters will never ask this question to French people.
Of course if the French customers offer tip without being asked, it makes sense, but French customers are never asked if they want to tip - since service IS included in the bill in France.
I detest being put on the spot to be taken advantage with the ridiculous tipping culture that the Americans are bringing to Europe (I am not American by the way), when the prices at Cafe Jeanne has risen already. And it’s a prestigious enough 5-star hotel.
Honestly with the drop in food quality, increase in food prices, and this tipping request, it makes me really question if I will come back as often as I used to.
Don’t take advantage of...
Read moreI would say...top!!! Are you looking for a gorgeous place, in the heart of Paris, to enjoy a culinary moment, sorrounded by calm and elegance? Voilà!!! The terrace La Piazzetta at the Park Hyatt Paris Vendôme is more than this...... This is a proof that a 5 star hotel can offer, not only a michelin star restaurant, but also a beautiful terrace for a drink or a smart meal in a cozy ambiance. The pizza margherita was simply delicious, exactly how it has to be: not so big, not so thin, not so thick, enough sauce tomato, fresh basil, perfect cooking! The burrata pugliese was very good: I felt like I was eating it like the one I ate in Puglia! There were also other dishes in the menu that I wanted to try, but I was full... Yes, I was full because the portions of the dishes are generous! This will oblige me to come back again soon and choose for example the spaghetti alle vongole veraci or the crab salade! The service was fast enough, the Staff were professional and welcoming, the atmosphere was simply perfect. Happy ending? Yes, of course: chocolates little balls and italian limoncello! I really enjoyed! I'll be back...
Read moreWhat an amazing discovery in the heart of Paris! We visited this restaurant on the recommendation of American Express, and we were not disappointed. The ambiance is wonderfully cozy, and the breathtaking patio—with its well-spaced tables—ensures you never feel crowded by other guests.
The service was truly exceptional. The staff were highly coordinated and attentive to detail, and their training was evident at every stage of our experience. On arrival, the receptionist personally escorted us to the restaurant entrance and remained with us until a colleague was available to welcome us. This thoughtful touch set the tone for the evening.
Our waiter was outstanding, and I have nothing but praise for their hospitality. We ordered the cheeseburger, which was good but not particularly memorable. However, the dessert—their signature millefeuille—was an absolute revelation. We were not prepared for such a delicate and exquisite creation. It was truly out of this world, and I cannot...
