You must go here...but get a reservation as it is a small neighborhood restaurant...tables are very close ...just call it family style...don't like that...don't go. The staff, food and presentation were perfect and Chef Pierre is a treat. He performs his menu...checks on everything and a true delight... This is the only time I've ever had a restaurant make a reservation and tell me that I must depart at a stated time ...started not to go which would have been a big mistake! Made a second visit ....better than the first...What a treat !
A quick update ...after our first return trip since Covid...Chez Marcel is as excellent as it was in 2018 and perhaps better. Service, food and price are great.
Still a Bistro, still close tables, and tons of fun.
Just an update to my 2018 review ... unfortunately ... it has taken until 2023 for a post covid visit. I'm happy to report that it is equal to , if not better than in 2018....such isn't the case for most restaurants I have revisited . Its a Bistro...so if you don't lie close tables and noise, you won't be pleased. But if you enjoy the Bistro environment, getting to know your table mates and amazing food for reasonable prices....this is THE place. The staff is amazing, the service is personal and attentive and the vibe is fantastic. I've been three times on this visit and may plan a future return to Paris just for...
Read moreI can't begin to tell you about Chez Marcel and their kindness. We read on trip advisor about this restaurant and saved it for our last night in Paris. We were not disappointed. Our reservations were for 19:30 (and made them from the US before we left, yes he gets that busy) it started raining around 15:00. We got to Chez Marcel a little before 17:20 and the door was open. The aroma was incredible and then we realized we were interrupting their dinner. We apologized and in broken English he said have a seat, we told them to take their time. We were sat next to an English couple and a French teacher from London (seating so tight he pulls the table out so you can sit down). We ordered from the daily chalk board, had the canard for two, which was done in courses and was out of this world good! As for the appertif, my wife said to surprise me and he did, a wonderful cucumber, creme de menthe, gin and champagne. Every time he walked by he added another shot of gin, left it there and said add it as you need it! For my entree I chose the escargot and was delighted to get them out of their shell! To end the meal we were given a shot of liqueur (can't remember the name of it) and again the bottle was left on the table for us to drink as we wanted.
We will return to Paris and will return to the Chez Marcel they made us feel like family,...
Read moreWe had the absolute pleasure of dining at Chez Marcel, and it was one of the most memorable meals of our trip. The ambiance is warm, authentic, and beautifully Parisian — the kind of place that feels both special and welcoming.
The food? Truly outstanding. I had the duck, the lamb, the leeks, and finished with the millefeuille — and every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The duck was tender and rich, the lamb was melt-in-your-mouth good, the leeks were simple but stunning, and the millefeuille was light, flaky, and the perfect end to the meal.
Service was gracious and attentive without being overbearing. The Romanian woman and British lad were both so kind and helpful. It’s clear that the staff take pride in what they do, and it shows in every detail.
Highly recommend for anyone looking to enjoy classic French cuisine done right. Chez...
