in all my years of dining out, i’ve never had a server just outright refuse to tell me their name .. but that’s exactly what our waitress did when i politely asked her for her name before she took our order. i mean, she literally just said, “I don’t give out my name”! a server. bluntly refusing to give her name!! hilarious! i must say, ‘girl who refused to give her name’ was pretty unbelievably rude - even by french standards! i was so flabbergasted that i could barely focus on what i wanted to try to order because all i could think was how badly i wanted to get up and leave! however, i didn’t want to embarrass my date. maybe this girl was having a bad day. maybe she doesn’t care for americans. maybe she doesn’t like her job. maybe she knows her gratuity is already built into the check and doesn’t care about what good service means. maybe she’s a covert operative for the FBI.

whatever the case, my date and i laughed about the whole experience as we were leaving, and we couldn’t help but wonder about how much we could have used a great deal of...

I passed by this cafe the night before my visit when it looked both busy and fun. I couldn't fit a night visit in my itinerary so I went in the afternoon. As expected, it was a bit less active.

The bartender was friendly, the roaming dog who may have belonged to the other worker was adorable. The water contraption was interesting.

A fine selection of absinthe, mine was very smooth. I was told to pour water over the sugar cube into my glass. Sadly, there was no flame and no wormwood toxicity -- afterall, this is France not Bohemia, and that's the tradition here.

Instead of acting like I did the first time I had absinthe in Europe as a teenager; I slowly sipped on my absinthe while I became too interested in the water contraption and my glass of water. I then stared at the spigot waiting for a droplet of water to fall. It never did. It felt like the ending to Inception. I'd visit again, but in the evening when both my and the cafe's energy are less strange. Looking back, maybe the wormwood content was...

In September 2016, My husband and I were wandering the streets starving and looking for a place to dine. I found this venue on my iPhone “Restaurants near me” and we were so thrilled to have been a block away. Upon entering - the timing was right as we were seated in their outdoor patio immediately. The wait staff was so polite and on point with helping us select dishes and introduced us to the art of Absinthe! We had a wonderful dining and drinking experience and can’t wait to come back when we make our way...

I can say that food is amazing. From starters (burrata and tomatoes) to desserts (moelleux au chocolat and cheesecake)! You can also take a -20% off through The Fork app. The first server was adorable, but the second (after shifts) was a MESS and so unfriendly. This is why unfortunately I can’t give five stars.
