L'As de Trèfle — Restaurant in Paris

My wife and I had happy hour drinks and ice cream here which were solid. The atmosphere is quite nice sitting outside. However, after receiving the bill when presenting my credit card for payment I was asked how much I would like to pay and told that service was not included. While I am happy to tip for service, I found it quite rude to be asked directly to tip and expected to respond verbally with a number. It felt as though I was only being asked to tip because I am American. I have never been asked to tip verbally like this before. We are a family of 4 from the Boston area and visited Paris for a week. This was the first restaurant we ate at in Paris and were amazed by the quality of the food and the hospitality of everyone at the restaurant! We are 3 nights at this restaurant during our 1 week stay! The food was that good! Pizzas were awesome! Never had a veggie burger like theirs before with a mozzarella patty which was delicious! Great food and awesome service! We were served quickly despite it being very busy. Our server was really friendly and attentive. We visited during happy hour on a busy Friday evening. We got beers and a mojito, French onion soup, salmon, steak + fries, and the chocolate mousse. Everything was excellent, the portion sizes were good.
