Very Disappointing Dining Experience
It’s Christmas Day and we were so looking forward to a French dinner and turned out to be one of the worst ever dining experience.
We came tonight a group of six including four adults and two kids. From the moment we arrived, it was evident that our table was being overlooked. The initial waiter seemed disinterested and failed to take our orders promptly. Despite all tables around us being attended to, we were left waiting. When we finally managed to place our orders, it became apparent that the waiter lacked knowledge about the menu, leading to confusion and delays.
We ordered a seafood platter, individual main courses, and a bottle of wine. However, the wait extended far beyond a reasonable timeframe. Another server had to inquire if we had placed any orders, revealing that our wine had not even been served. This led to a series of missteps and further delays.
To our surprise, our main courses arrived before our starters, highlighting a significant oversight in the service. When questioned about this discrepancy, the original waiter said this is the usual preference of Chinese customers wanting all courses to be served the same time. I responded immediately to the waiter first we are not Chinese (just because of skin colour doesn’t mean that you can make your assumptions and how discriminative this is to bring up ethnicity as an excuse). Second, we were never been asked whether we want the courses to be served at the same time.
At this point the night is totally ruined. Every line is crossed. We did finish our main course. And we didn’t get any service at all the rest of the meal. Without any apologies.
I don’t expect anything here but I just wanted to leave my humble honest review....
Read moreWe ordered the seafood set (€92), but unfortunately the overall experience was very disappointing. Initially, we were served a separate plate of oysters. Since oysters were also included in the seafood set, we assumed this was simply part of the order being served in stages. Without any explanation, a senior staff member suddenly removed the plate, leaving us confused. Only later, when another staff member brought the actual seafood set, did we learn that the oysters had been given to us by mistake. Fortunately we haven’t touched the oysters.
The way this situation was handled was unprofessional, and the senior staff member’s attitude came across as impolite and dismissive. This significantly affected our dining experience.
Additionally, when paying the bill (€134), we were pressured to leave a tip. Although we eventually added 10%, we felt very uncomfortable doing so, especially given the service we had received.
This was our first visit to Paris, and it is unfortunate that such an experience left us with a very negative impression of this restaurant. We cannot recommend it and...
Read moreIf you are not a native French speaker, you may receive better hospitality somewhere else. The Maître d’ refused to sit my elderly mother and I at our party’s table despite being given the first name of the host and the time of the reservation. He insisted we also tell him the number of people included in the booking and the host’s surname which we were unsure of. At any other restaurant in the world the time and a first name would be sufficient to seat you. Instead he refused to show us to the table and said he could not help us. When we asked if he could show us to the bar or an empty table while we waited for the other guests to arrive, he refused despite the fact the restaurant was almost empty. It was very disappointing and not the standard of service one would expect from such a reputable restaurant. Eventually our host messaged us the number of guests and surname and we were shown to our table. It is a shame because, other than the inhospitable beginning, the...
