We are so glad we booked here for our honeymoon/1 year anniversary! We came in August and knew it could get really toasty outside, so we wanted a hotel that would be reasonably comfortable (i.e. For my fellow Americans, we wanted a hotel with reliable AC). The Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile absolutely delivered - throughout our stay we always felt cool and comfortable once we got back to our hotel, no matter how hot it got outside during our excursions. The staff were helpful throughout our stay for any questions we needed help with.
The breakfast buffet at the hotel was superb, as I am someone who is very hungry. I especially loved the smoked salmon, which I wasn't expecting to be served as a breakfast item. I was always able to fill up properly with food and coffee for each day of walking around Paris. This is also where I would love to discuss the Windo Skybar Sunday brunch, but unfortunately when I inquired about making a reservation, they informed me they weren't open during this August, but hopefully we will get a chance to try that in the future on our next visit.
I love me a good gym. The hotel gym here was functional for my needs, though we walked so much around the city I only ended up using the gym twice over the 6 days we were there. The machines they had were adequate for my needs (basic cardio machines, good mixture of resistance training machines for multiple muscle groups). The only thing I wasn't the most fond of was the smell in the gym, it definitely does smell like a gym that's seen a good number of sweaty tourists to me, but I could get past that just to maintain my training while away from home. Wouldn't hurt to have some more air freshener running in there.
For transit, it is very easy to get to the Porte Maillot metro station that is just 5-10 minutes walking south of the Hotel. There is also an above-ground tram line that passes by the hotel, we never used that one but it looks reasonably nice if you need that as an option.
Curiously, this hotel is attached the Palais des Congrès de Paris, which has an Epic grocery store and a pharmacy that's about 5 minutes walking back to the hotel elevators without ever having to step outside. We made multiple trips to the grocery store in particular as it's reasonably priced (for being in a tourist city) to get some fancy salads/meats/bread/cheese/beverages/desserts etc. from there, which helps minimize having go out to eat so often. Helps lighten the travel budget if that's a consideration.
Last but not least, our room was great! Not the most spacious room we've ever had but given that we were out and about for a good amount of time this trip it didn't particularly matter. The air conditioning worked great as mentioned earlier - as a delicate dainty American that can't handle life without at least a little AC during the summertime, this hotel was fantastic for keeping us comfortable from a temperature standpoint. The fridge and safe in our room worked well, albeit both a little on the small side, but the safe fit our main valuables without any issue (including two laptops). No issues with the bathroom or entertainment - the TV was somewhat finicky to connect to from our laptops but could usually get it to work after a few minutes. If you book this hotel, you have to get a room with a higher-floor room with an Eiffel Tower view at least once - it was incredible to go to bed seeing the Eiffel Tower light up and sparkle at night, along with a view of the rest of the city, really shows you why it's called the city of lights. Same with waking up to a view of the Eiffel Tower - it was a very special experience for our first time in Paris.
This review got much, much longer than I originally intended. TLDR: Great staff, great breakfast, good but slightly smelly gym, great location (for transit and attached mall), and INCREDIBLE view from the upper level...
Read moreExceptional stay at Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile! I stayed here for 2 nights in May of 2023 to close out a beautiful week spent in Paris, my first solo trip ever, and my first return to Europe in 30 years. I have elevated status with Hyatt so if there is a chance that some availability opens up on my travel dates, Hyatt is the first hotel I will check out and I am SO GLAD I did! Some of the reviews online state that there are better options, that this hotel is not in the city center, etc. You really need to decide for yourself if this will be a right fit (for me, it absolutely was). The city I go to mostly is New York (I live an hour south) so to say it is not in Paris city center is correct, however, trust me if you ever visit NYC, Times Square is the last place you’d want to stay. There are so many museums, monuments and restaurants spread all over the city, why confine yourself to a “city center”? With that being said, here are some highlights of the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile and why I would make this my first choice in hotels when returning to Paris (which I fully intend to!). The hotel hosts conventions and corporate meetings as well as airline personnel arriving on layovers overnight. So, while it is busy checking in and out, they do have a luggage holding service so you can go out and explore until your room is ready. There is a smaller restaurant downstairs for breakfast as well as a Starbucks. I was checked in by Mary (top notch in guest services, so friendly, so welcoming!) and later on given my key by another woman who was just as lovely. In France, I started off every conversation with a Hello and explaining I speak very little French (I have forgotten more than I remember from not using it!) and asked if they spoke English, to which they replied yes. I was pleasantly surprised at how many people not just spoke English, but spoke it very well so keep this in mind if a language barrier is keeping you from traveling to Paris. The entire hotel staff (the concierge, the luggage handlers, the check in process) was fantastic. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. My room was beautiful with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower, which I watched twinkle every night. The shower water pressure was great and the room provided slippers and a robe. There was a small fridge for beverages or pastries or medication. The bed was super comfortable and the linens were soft and airy and warm. I was also able to use the Regency Club on the 34th floor. There was a full breakfast and the later dinner hours were enough to fill me up to avoid going back out once I had come in from the day. I met a group of women who I ended up meeting up with at breakfast and at night for some wine and to catch up on our travels for the day. If I had not had access to this area (access is available via status or room type, if by room type it will state that in the description), I think I would highly consider getting a room or suite that came with access. I loved being able to pop in in the afternoon for a cup of hot chocolate and a little snack before heading back out for round 2. Not to be missed is the Windo Skybar. The views are incredible and there is a dj playing music on Friday and Saturday nights. It’s not so loud that you can’t talk and the craft cocktail selection is not only beautiful but tastes as good as it looks (I’m looking at you, Basilic St Germain!). Two of the bartenders, Sebastian and Carmine (I probably spelled that wrong) are mixologists to the fullest extent of the word. Their speed is incredible to watch and the cocktails are stunningly garnished and presented. When you’re alone, you can observe a lot and this appears to be a high volume bar, but neither one of them miss a beat! It was great chatting with both of them. I will absolutely stay here again on my return to Paris. Thank you to Agathe and staff for a...
Read moreRE: Hyatt Regency Pars Etoile First BREACH reservation contract ( swap from my booked expensive Tower SUITE to cheaper Tower ROOM ), I had to fight hard to get my my booked SUITE back.
I am Hyatt globalist. Please allow me share my worst stay at Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile. Even now, I still feel very painful at the moment I wrote.
My family had Europe travel plan. Feb 28, I booked and paid 24k points "Eiffel tower SUITE" check-in May 21 2022, one night, for 3 adults. Hyatt emailed confirmation Reservation number 35313026 Room Type: EIFFEL TWR STE, Room Description:.. living room: 2 bathrooms: walk-in.
After check-in 7+pm May 21, We got the room key, entered room, dropped luggage into room, grabbed some snack from club, hurry up city tour excitedly.
At midnight, we came back, after 5 hours city tour, we were so tired, just wanted to take showers and sleep. But we can not find 2nd bathroom, living room( with Murphy bed), We just realized we did not get the Tower SUITE as we booked and paid. It is Eiffel ROOM only.
Around 00:30 am, I went down to the lobby, there was only one check-in staff, 5 more guests lined up to check-in, no other staffs at sight. I waited in line 30+ minutes. When I got my turn, I politely told check-in desk staff Tsering, I am Hyatt globalist. I booked Suite and paid, but I only get Tower ROOM. Is there any other connecting room to my current room ?
Check-in staff Tsering, he checked my reservation record and check my key. He said there were two type of Suites in this building. The room I got now is right for my reservation, no 2nd bathroom, no living room. I told him that email confirmation shows the suite has living room and two bathrooms. Why you told me that I don't have living room and second bathroom. He denied everything and refused to give me Suite as I booked and paid.
This is legal contract issue. H.R. Paris Etoile breached our contract. (Guest booked Tower SUITE, but Hotel swapped to Tower ROOM after check-in).
Even elementary school student can tell the difference between "two bathroom" and "one bathroom". How can hotel staff Tsering don't know it ?
My families and me were so shocked and we don't have two beds to sleep. We went to lobby again and awaited concierge desk staff that we need help from manager. A female manager showed up. She confirmed we should have connected room which has murphy bed, living room, and second bathroom. So she make new room key to open door to connected room. It already passed 1:30am now, I lost all sleep mood. My hart filled with exhausted after fight hard to right suite back. My two families lost sleep either.
The two check-in desk staffs should know there is connected room for Tower SUITE. Why both staffs refused to give me connected room and insist that my booking has only one bed, one bathroom, and no living room.
Next day, May 22 noon, I received email form VP stating she compensated 5,000 points for our inconvenience. Hotel manager also emailed me sorry later days after I gave 0 star feedback.
VP manager compensated 5k points is far less than the the pain we suffered !
It is not just inconvenience! It's pain. It's legal issue!
Check-in staff should never swap expensive Tower SUITE to cheaper Tower ROOM, and lied to us that's...
