I visited Lafayette’s with my partner on Oct 2nd, to begin the venue it was real nice venue which is more of historical property with trendy vibe. We were greeted by the doorman, who was really nice and very welcoming and complemented us on our look and outfits. Our booking was at 9pm and we showed up at 9 on the dot, the hostess said our booking was at 10pm, despite the restaurant was 80% empty at that moment, I had to show her my confirmation which was made 2 weeks in advance by my concierge and clearly states 9pm then she said maybe it’s a mistake from our system, anyway we didn’t want this to spoil our evening, we were seated in a table by the entrance and when I asked for another table I was told it was reserved !! Anyway we sat ordered our food and drinks, I requested extra crotons/bread for the beef tartare and finally our waiter came back after 20 minutes and said sorry we can’t give extra bread !! Just to clarify our bill was EUR 476 for 2 people. Then I asked the waiter for the sommelier and despite many reminders he never came to our table, although this is supposed to generate more money to the restaurant!!! Finally my partner requested a top up for her vintage champagne, after several reminders a waitress came after 25 minutes and poured a different champagne in the same old glass, when we said this was not the right champagne she just said that’s complementary!!! We don’t need anyone to give us complementary drinks, as we are happy to pay for our drinks and food, just serve the correct drink that we had asked for !! Finally we finished our main course, the waiter didn’t bother to clear the table and offer the dessert menu for over 30 minutes, at that point I finally gave up and decided to leave the place, I just asked for the bill and I made sure to tell him how bad was the service was which he apparently didn’t care much about. To be fair the food was good, we had the beef tartare, spinach salad, pasta and beef tenderloin. The wine list is limited and you expect a better list in a venue like this. The service was horrible, I do understand it was the fashion week but hey we are heavy spenders and wanted a decent service nothing more. The place was full of fashion week wanna be crowd, many were just waiting to get a table without reservation and the poor service ruined our final night in Paris. We’ve been to many high end venues which were really busy with fashion week real attendees and the service was just perfect. I believe the place has a potential but they need to acknowledge the...

This magnificent private mansion once belonged to Lafayette, an illustrious figure of both the American and French revolutions. Original artworks adorn the walls, enhanced by dozens of crystal candleholders.
Upon entering, one is immediately struck by the opulence of the venue where Louise, a sylph-like figure, greets you. Whether she meets your expectations in table selection or not, her broad smile will make you forget any unmet requests.
Once seated, you can enjoy a well-crafted menu blending adventurous flavors that seem to have been gathered from Africa, the chef Morry Sacko’s cultural origin, to Asia, his gastronomic home. It’s a successful blend inviting us to a mixed marriage of tastes.
I’ve repeatedly fallen for the mango salad, reminiscent of those picked in the early morning in my parents’ garden on the other side of the world. It’s an explosion of taste, with just the right amount of spice to tickle the palate, softened by a good wine for enthusiasts.
Then there’s the Sea Bass, the noble fish distinguished by the quality of its flesh and flavor from more common fishes. Expertly prepared, it is served with a typical Caribbean “sauce chien,” reminding me of my childhood, alongside white rice and grilled sucrine lettuce.
In the dining room, the staff is attentive, quickly responding to any glance. Big up for their patience and dedication, as I am a particularly demanding customer.
The only downside (which is not unique to this place but almost universal in restaurants) is the habit of serving fries before the main dishes, and at Lafayette, this means before the sea bass fillets are ready.
Thus, the fries are inevitably served lukewarm, and by the time they are redone, your fish is cold. A misstep that Jean Jérôme Dégoursi, the king of “Eatertainment” whom I’ve known for 30 years, will make you forget with one of his clever tricks.

Read moreI’d like to share my deep disappointment following our recent visit to your restaurant, which was meant to be a special birthday celebration that I had clearly mentioned when booking over the phone.
Upon arrival, we were met with a cold and dismissive welcome. The hostess, who was particularly arrogant, claimed we had no reservation—despite my confirmation and reminder that it was for a birthday. She insisted, quite rudely, that due to a private event, it wouldn’t be possible to seat us. Only after repeated insistence on my part did she finally call the manager, who reluctantly found us a table… placed right in the middle of a high-traffic area. Hardly fitting for a birthday dinner.
To make matters worse, that same hostess was loudly swearing—dropping “f*ck”—as she walked across the dining room. Very classy for a so-called high-end restaurant.
Unfortunately, the rest of the evening continued in the same disappointing fashion. After a 45-minute wait, our ribeye steaks arrived—one overcooked, the other undercooked. The meat itself was of very poor quality. The mashed potatoes, which were supposed to contain truffle, had no trace of it whatsoever. On top of that, the table was far too small to accommodate all the dishes properly.
Given this string of issues, we left early—without dessert, without a birthday candle, and having eaten nothing but fries and mashed potatoes.
For a restaurant that positions itself as "high-end," this experience was unacceptable. I was genuinely embarrassed to have brought my family there for such an important occasion.
I hope you will take this...
