Le Bistrot de la Place — Restaurant in Paris

We unfortunately had a bad experience here. The location is very nice and the menu looked good, with a limande sole special I was very interested in. We ordered, but we waited for over an hour until the waiter looked at us, did a bit of a double take and checked with the kitchen, then came to us and said that my choice for main course was sold out (this was after already waiting for more than an hour!). I chose another dish, (the beef cheek stew) and our food then took another half hour to arrive. The beef cheek stew was okay, not super impressive. I was then told they would make it up to us for the long wait. They ended up offering us a coffee for dessert, which was worth the grand sum of 5.40Euro - not impressive. The manager’s attitude was not pleasant either, as if it all was our fault. I would not...

We were exhausted after flying all night from the US and chose Le Bistro de la Place for our first restaurant in Paris across the street from our flat. We had a delightful dining experience and the owner and staff were so patient dealing with our rudimentary French. I woke the next morning only to discover my purse with my passport, money and credit cards was not in our flat. We quickly returned to the restaurant and the owner was happy to return my purse and nothing was missing. He had even gone so far as to call local hotels to try to find us. We returned 3 more times each time enjoying a delicious meal. Not only was the food excellent but the owner, Claude, and his waiter, Johan, were truly special people. A hidden gem! Enjoy a wonderful meal on the square We visited this restaurant by chance. We arrived at the square and considered several of the restaurants. This one happened to have a table just freeing up as we arrived. We ate with our 11 and 13 year old children. We were all very pleased with our food. The vegetarian lasagna was wonderful. Our server also recommended a very nice red wine to accompany our meal. Dessert was delicious. The service was friendly and personable too. The next night we ate at a restaurant with a much higher trip advisor rating and it was not nearly as good...
