Echoing other reviews—this place is not safe for women.
The bouncers at this venue need urgent vetting and it is really disappointing to see you have been warned again and again in these other reviews.
Between 2-2:30 am on March 8th (yes, International Women's Day), a deeply disturbing incident occurred near the couch by the DJ/mirror. One of the security staff—a heavy set man with mid length floppy hair—put his hands around a woman's neck and strangled her on the dancefloor while shouting about respect. He didn’t like how she had playfully engaged with him while he himself was dancing on the furniture. She did not resist, yet he used excessive and brutal force. Fortunately, she happens to be trained in the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression and was able to remain calm. Had she struggled, the outcome could have been far worse.
Even without resistance, he continued applying force in an attempt to cause harm and dragged and pushed her while clenching her neck. She has since experienced persistent neck pain as a direct result of his unjustified assault.
When four people tried to report this to another bouncer once off the premises (where the culprit could no longer act unchecked), we were shut down with a dismissive "I believe him because he's the bouncer." The lack of accountability was alarming, and even the bouncer who defended him avoided eye contact with us, totally unable to deal with this indefensible situation.
This is beyond a one-off incident; it speaks to a culture of hiring people who are there to abuse their own perceived power where they likely have none elsewhere. Review the footage. This cannot be ignored. It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt—or worse.
Women deserve to feel safe in your venue. This was not just excessive force; it was violent, dangerous, and a...
Read moreHorrible. The first time I went my friend was doing press ( She's a blogger) for the bar so we sampled the gin drinks and met the people. It was a nice place. This time I went with my other friend from the US, and the bouncers are like " Invitation Privee " Private Invitation. The place was empty- but I could see they stared at us head to toe- particularly my friend which I didn't like. I've partied in Miami, NY, SF, London- it's one thing to turn people down at the door if your place is packed or at least be chill and have some manners. Your place is half empty- you are rude and judgemental about it with the bouncer giving a worst head to toe look that is bitchier than any girl could give to another girl . I've gone to way better places that are harder to get in- and the night was packing. I"ve always thought Paris night life is the worst compared to other cities in general, but I swear these bars and clubs need to take a memo from the other cities. There was more nightlife going on the bistro just across Carmen then the place itself. You create the hype by actually having people in your place. When I did get in the last time the drinks were good- but we went as press people as a private appt- and didn't pay for the drinks. Ironic how when they need good press they are on their best behavior and when you go incognito- they are absolutely terrible. Go to Matignon, Hotel Costes ( pricey), Hotel Particulier( reserve if you do want to go to the restaurant) , Buddha bar,Harry's bar, Candelaria- anything that is super nice ambiance and you get great drinks and your money's worth and are treated accordingly. Carmen- you couldn't pay me to go there. One day i get in on the busiest night, the next day I don't get in on the slowest...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place, but ultimately I did not.
To get in there is no queue, just a crowd around the bouncer to determine if you are cool enough to enter.
Once inside it looks amazing, the building, aesthetics and even the people inside make you feel you’ve entered somewhere really cool.
Unfortunately that translates into people holding mini photo shoots for their social, and they are more interested in being seen in there than actually being in there. It created this very dull atmosphere, with everyone too concerned with optics to actually have fun.
The Dj did not match the place, I don’t even know how to describe how bad he was. The best part of his set was when his table caught fire and he stopped playing for a solid minute. We could not get into it so decided to leave.
Had to wait for over 30 minutes in line for coat check, everyone was desperately trying to leave because the vibe was just not there and they had already gotten...
