A Charming Location with Room for Improvement.

Le Caveau du Palais located close to Notre Dame, offering a charming opportunity for a Parisian dining experience. While my experience had some shortcomings, I believe there's room for improvement.

The service, unfortunately, wasn't ideal. Our waiter didn't write down our order, leading to some confusion and mistakes. Additionally, the language barrier presented a challenge.

The food itself had mixed reviews. My other half thoroughly enjoyed the pork rillette starter. However, my onion soup lacked salt totally, and the meringue cake was primarily meringue (too strong the egg flavour) with minimal sweetness. While I understand personal preferences for sweetness can vary, it felt more like a meringue tower with custard than a cake as it was missing the "solid" part of the cake like the sponge?

The biggest concern, however, was the state of the restrooms. The lack of clear signage for their location was inconvenient, and upon reaching them, the hygiene conditions were quite poor. The strong odor and presence of black mold on the ceiling made them unusable for me, especially being asthmatic.

Overall, while the location is charming, I believe Le Caveau du Palais could significantly improve its service attentiveness, communication, and restroom maintenance. With these aspects addressed, it could offer a more positive dining experience for...

Entrecote was not good and ok at it’s best. Ordered the steak medium and got it totally well done. Taste wasn’t very good otherwise and very chewy and difficult to cut. The seperate mayonmaise or sauce that came with the entrecote was very strange and didn’t have a good balance. We had lot’s of mix-ups with the orders and bill. The restaurant tried to bill several dishes that our table (of eleven) hadn’t ordered. At the end we just got fed up with sorting the bill for about an hour and payed many of the extra foods. We even got accused first for lying and not paying the whole bill and not telling the waiter about the burgers. We didn’t even order any burgers! After the restaurant realized this, they appologized. Still no compensation or anything for the chaos, quite the contrary. We still ended up paying more than we ordered. Not a good experience. Food wasn’t good and service neither. I guess the service wasn’t straightforward rude, but just a mess and very unprofessional. Made the whole of our table pretty frustrated and...

Food is decent enough. Not great, not bad. I ordered a glass of red wine , Sancerre, but the wine was terrible. It was most likely from a bottle opened the day before. The food was ok, I had duck and it was tender. The service is the main problem here. They told us that our reservation was cancelled, which is kind of true. Our first reservation for 2 people was cancelled because we were 3 so we cancelled it and create another reservation for 3. At our arrival we were told that our reservation was cancelled and despite we explain we created another one, they said that the new reservation was not taken. So they sent us to the back of the restaurant. This is so wrong in many ways.

Later on we asked for a cup of tea , they brought the tea bag and not the hot water. 20 minutes later we still didn’t get the hot water. We asked again and they seemed to be annoyed by it. They were not polite and lippy.

Wouldn’t recommend...

I want to preface this review with the fact that I didn't have any food. Instead I had champagne and a cappuccino. In fact I had the following items: 1) Champagne brut reserve 2) Cappuccino a la creme This place though is in a wonderful location overlooking a park. It has two floors with an abundance of seating. The second floor is very quaint and has windows overlooking the park. The champagne was delicious and made for a great summer drink as I relaxed by the park. The cappuccino was as nice as any decent coffee shop. It was well prepared with decent coffee that kept its flavor while nicely combined with a good milk froth. Overall this is a nice place and worth a stop if only for a glass of wine.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The quality of the food was absolutely outstanding—everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. From the appetizers to the dessert, each dish exceeded my expectations. What made the evening even more enjoyable was the service. Our waitress, Sofia, was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. She made us feel welcome and took great care of our table. Her warm personality truly added to the overall experience. Highly recommend this place—I’ll definitely be coming back!

had one of the worst dining experiences at Le Caveau du Palais. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, I waited over 30 minutes just to be served. When my sea bass finally arrived, it was cold, undercooked, completely tasteless, and even served on a dirty plate. To make matters worse, the waiter was extremely rude, refused to switch my order, and would not remove the dish from the bill. Absolutely unacceptable. I would never recommend this place to anyone disgusting food, terrible service, and an overall awful experience.
