We had dinner there Sunday Jan 7, after a day spent walking the Louvre. It was a very cold and windy walk along the seine river and over the Pont Neuf bridge - the restaurant is located in the island where the Notre Dame is. The place is small and very modest, with about 10-15 tables, benches and a few chairs. Our waiter was cordial, attentive and spoke reasonable English. The limited sunday night menu had a traditional Pho (soup) as the highlight, cooked in the North Vietnam style -clearer broth, flat noodles, more ginger-like seasoning, with very good salty-sweet balance. Be careful with the red chili brought in the side - it is “evil” tong numbing, hot pepper style! Even being Sunday night, the dish did not disappoint! This was the best Pho we had (aside from the one my Vietnamese girlfriend cooks, a south Vietnam style Pho). The price is very reasonable (about €40 for two including dessert -banh troi- and hot honey and ginger tea) -very low for the food quality. The atmosphere is “ok” because the ventilation system is not very good, keeping the inside very humid, carrying the food smell all over the place (our clothes wet smelling Pho! 😂); they would benefit also from finding a good way to hang/care for coats from customers who come in from the...
Read moreToday, the temperature in Paris is 25 degrees, and I know the staff at this small Vietnamese restaurant, which has no air conditioning, are hot and tired. However, we experienced the worst service today. We had to change seats because the sunlight was so direct that we couldn't open our eyes. A female waitress told us, "I understand you, but you don't have the 'right' to change seats twice."
The seats we were initially given were not properly covered by parasols and were very hot. We moved to a table near the door, but the sunlight was still unbearable. By the time we finished eating and left, other customers were also sitting in the same seats and then moving to another table. This is not a place where you can comfortably eat.
I have been visiting this restaurant for a few years now, and the quality of the food has been declining, while the service is the worst in Paris. I will not hesitate to share these facts with my friends and anyone reading...
Read moreThe service is terrible. I have waited for an hour to get in the store, although I have seen many blank desks but the staff didn’t clean it quickly and didn’t invite anyone in the long waiting line to come in. The curly black hair girl with northern Vietnamese accent address her costumers as “nó”, which is a way to call an object or an animal. That girl also really discriminated among Vietnamese costumers and foreign ones. She put all the spoons and chopstick rudely all at once and made a really loud sound on my table, while other costumer receive decent treatment. It also took long to be able to order, but when it is order, the food served quickly, although I think it is not cooked when at the time of the order because the degree of hot weren’t enough, but the flavor is good. But if you don’t want to eat with anger, totally...
