A restaurant where I experienced the exact opposite of the French dining etiquette emphasized by a YouTuber.
I made a reservation, but was guided to the basement regardless. I wanted to order a drink first, but all orders were made at once. The entree came out within ten minutes and water and wine were not served until the entree was finished. I asked for wine and he gave it to me, and bread came after the entree. The water didn't come out until I paid the bill.
If the food had been good, I would have been relieved, but I don't see any reason to go all the way to this town to eat this kind of food.
There are much better restaurants in central Paris for this price. If you pay a little more, you can get a Michelin lunch, and if you pay half the price, you can enjoy a more delicious 3-course meal at a local restaurant.
Entree - Roll Paper Shrimp Fry Is the source unique? No! It just reminds me of Chinese style. Main - Octopus, cooked well done. If this had been cooked for a minute longer, it would have been overcooked and tough(any restaurant in Spain is better than this, I ate half and had leftovers). Dessert - It was so sour that it made me salivate rather than taking away the greasiness of the food.
There is no soap in the bathroom& music that suddenly doesn't fit, poor service, and the food is PLAIN. Perfect Trinity
The server apologized and excluded the wine cost, but the manager's face was not good. Even if I don't pay for the food, my anger won't go away.
He didn't give me the phone I asked to charge, so I went back an hour later and he apologized again.
Of all the French restaurants I've been to, this one had the most unclear identity and made me abandon half a day.
It's good that YouTuber doesn't upload videos like this. It's making a mess of one’s...
Read moreThis was the best meal we have eaten in Paris. It was recommended by our friends in Angers, and they got it right. The 4-month-old restaurant is run my Yann Le Port and his associate Thomas Desfassiaux, and they are doing everything right. The menu is entirely a la carte. We chose a bottle of Rhone wine, "Le Loup dans la Bergerie," and it played that role in our meal. We opened by sharing the Camembert with truffles as an appetizer and then having Agneau de Sept Heures (a slow baked lamb) and Filet to Boeuf (best steak I've had in Paris), Based on the quality of the meal, we asked them to bring us each a dessert. Lauren had Blanc Manger (a whipped white cheese with a citrus glaze served with pineapple and passion fruit sorbet), and I had Mille Feuille dans 1 minute, a light whipped cream with pastry shell and chocolate and caramel. The waitstaff was very enthusiastic and helpful, We loved this meal. We are trying new restaurants in Paris after eating at the same old (very good) places for many years. This was so good that we want to scrap the plan and return each of the next two nights. I also appreciated that the waiter did not oversell the wines. When I pointed to two possible wines at the top price level, he suggested an alternate (much cheaper) as being just right for our order. Perhaps this is due to the fact that his tip does not depend on selling a higher priced bottle, but it...
Read moreDining at Le Jéroboam was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, the experience was world class. We began with the baked Camembert, which arrived perfectly warm, creamy, and aromatic. It was a decadent way to open the evening.
For the main course, I had the octopus and my wife chose the scallops. Both dishes were executed flawlessly. The octopus was tender with a beautiful char and paired with flavors that truly danced on the palate. The scallops were equally impressive, seared to perfection and bursting with delicate flavor. We found ourselves savoring every single bite.
As someone who has been fortunate enough to travel and dine around the world, I can confidently say this was one of the best meals I have ever had. My wife felt the same.
The service elevated the experience even more. The servers and manager were warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making the evening special. Their care and professionalism made us feel truly welcomed and appreciated.
If you are in Paris and looking for an unforgettable meal, Le Jéroboam should be at the very top of your list.
Five stars. Absolutely...
