Sometimes the best travel memories aren't planned; they’re stumbled upon. On a dreary, rainy afternoon in Paris, my wife and I were looking for any place dry and close to eat. We ducked into the first welcoming glow we saw, an unassuming restaurant named Crocus. We ended up having one of the most memorable meals of our lives. It was, without a doubt, one of the luckiest things we ever did.
The cold, grey dampness of the street melted away, replaced by an intimate, warm ambiance. Crocus is a small, cozy space, elegantly decorated with a modern touch that feels both chic and incredibly welcoming. We were greeted not as drenched tourists, but as cherished guests. The service throughout the afternoon maintained this perfect balance of professional an personal, attentive without ever being intrusive.
But the true magic of Crocus is on the plate. Looking back at other reviews now, I see a common thread: a deep reverence for the chef's creativity and commitment to seasonal ingredients. Words like "hidden gem," "exceptional value for the quality," and "a truly authentic Parisian experience" appear constantly, and I agree completely; it's about a deep, genuine passion for food that you can taste in every dish. The menu is concise, a sign of a kitchen that knows exactly what it’s doing and focuses on executing it perfectly.
The next time we are in Paris, we will plan on going back --...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of one of the owners as our server during dinner. He spoke amazing English as our collective French is not good (we are working on that). We all decided to have the three course meal. We had seven people in our group and we were able to try all the different options offered. We have some picky eaters in our group and let me tell you, every dish was devoured, très bien!! The Chablis wine complimented each dish, the seasonal cocktail, and Limoncello were superb. As our plates were being cleared from our first course, a shrimp tail fell into my wine glass. The owner insisted on bringing me a new glass; the American in me couldn’t let a good glass of wine go to waste. I picked the shrimp tail out of my glass and drank it. The owner laughed, the table laughed, and the chef laughed. It was quite a memorable night of incredible food, delicious drinks, a fantastic atmosphere, and even better company! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a similar experience (with or without the shrimp tail).
P. S. The owner wants to do a cross country trip in America and he will always be welcome to...
Read moreDo not miss it !! We accidentally found this restaurant and the experience was great from A to Z Great quality at a very very reasonable price (36€/ pers starter, main dish and desert) We tested shrimps in kadaif (sort of orientale tempura) and the grilled octopus - both were special and super tasty As main dishes we tried deer meat (might sound weird but the meat was super soft and too strong in taste) super good and a lamb dish with 2 sorts of lamb parts that were cooked to perfection. You’ll find a Mediterranean touch in every dish and it’s perfect Deserts were airy sweet - a great note to end the experience ( peach and “riz au lait” with pistachio Not to mention the friendliness and positive vibes of the staff...
