Our experience at this hotel was something I have personally never experienced before. I have been staying at Marriott hotels throughout the world my entire life, as all my family are frequent travelers. And this is the very first time I’ve experienced thee most rude check-in process.
For backstory we arrived early on May 6th around 10am. When I had initially made our booking I called the hotel to make sure it would be okay to check-in early because I knew our flight would arrive at CDG at 8am. The lady that answered reassured me that we would be able to check-in early with no problem.
When we arrived we weren’t greeted at all by the man at the front desk. My partner and I walked up to him and he was very short in his conversation with us and rudely mannered. To my surprise he then continued to tell us that we wouldn’t be able to check-in til 3pm. I was a bit upset but extremely understanding. Around 12:30pm my partner and I asked if we could check-in any earlier even if we had to pay an extra fee and he informed us to check back in with him at 1pm. During the hours we had already been patiently waiting many other visitors had checked in with no problem. And to my surprise again, this same employee was very kind and attentive to ALL the other hotel guests. Every time we approached him he immediately came off as rude and just overall very disrespectful with us.
Long story short we checked back in with the front desk around 1:10pm and thankfully this employee was on break and the manager was at the front desk. The manager was a very sweet man and reassured us that a room would be available to us within the next 30 mins. Then when we checked back in with front desk 30 mins later the manager was now on break and the rude front desk employee was back telling us once again that we wouldn’t be able to check in until 3pm 🤦🏽♀️. We then asked to speak to the manager & the managed ended up upgrading us and we were in our suite by 1:45pm which we were extremely grateful for. If he wasn’t there, I don’t know if we’d ever even been checked in by 3pm.
My purpose of this review isn’t to persuade potential guests to not stay here. It’s in hopes that the rude and disrespectful front desk employee reads this somehow and gets to hear how he made us feel. After 15+ hours of travel to a different country we arrived with high hopes for beautiful memories and complete excitement and YOU were our first impression of it. I was going to sit back and just put it all behind me but even almost a week later that experience is still upsetting me. In a way, I do feel that we were racially profiled early on but I don’t want to jump to conclusions. I hope that in the future you will show more compassion towards ALL your hotel guests and be kinder in your conversations with them. Had you approached us in a more respectful way, you would have been able to see that my partner and I are some of the most understanding and grateful people out there.
All in all it is an experience I will certainly never forget and I say that not in a good way. I regret not asking for that front desk employee’s name.
Thank you again to the kind manager for all your help and compassion towards us. You really turned things around for us and I won’t...

I had the pleasure of staying at the Residence Inn Paris Didot Montparnasse from August 18 to 22, and it was truly a wonderful experience from start to finish.
A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Guillaume Fridrich, Deputy General Manager, for the warm welcome as a Bonvoy Platinum Elite guest and for the thoughtful upgrade to a spacious 1-bedroom suite on the 6th floor. My arrival was well past midnight due to a delayed Air France flight from Toulouse, yet James and Sely greeted me warmly at the front desk. The moment I stepped into my suite, all my exhaustion and stress melted away.
The suite was beautiful and spacious, overlooking the quiet courtyard. I especially appreciated the separate bathroom and toilet, both spotless and well-maintained. The shower had fantastic water pressure, and the air conditioning was excellent—I loved being able to set it to 16°C, which is rare and such a comfort during summer in Paris. The bed, pillows, and comforter were so cozy that I slept like a baby on several nights. A small but thoughtful detail: the safe was large enough to fit my laptop, unlike in many other hotels.
Breakfast was a delight every morning. While the selection is not huge, the quality is outstanding—the pastries, in particular, are exceptional. Whoever their boulangerie supplier is, I can honestly say their croissants and pain au chocolat are so good that I never felt the need to buy them elsewhere. The two coffee machines ensured I could enjoy my Americano each morning without waiting.
Location-wise, this property couldn’t be more convenient. There’s a Monoprix and Franprix right next door, making it easy to pick up anything you might need. The bus stop is directly in front of the hotel, providing easy access to the city center, and the metro is only a short 7–8 minute walk away.
This was already my second stay, and I’m happily planning my third. While I’m aware of other excellent Marriott Bonvoy properties in Paris, I find the Residence Inn Didot Montparnasse offers fantastic value, comfort, and a sense of “home.” Guillaume and his team deserve special praise—every interaction I had with the staff was professional, warm, and welcoming.

Read moreWhile my room was satisfactory, the overall experience was deeply frustrating due to multiple unresolved logistical issues and a complete lack of response (seems to be a theme here if you look at recent reviews on the Marriott website).
First, despite receiving a confirmed email for a suite upgrade using 5 Nightly Upgrade Awards (NUAs), the hotel failed to honor this commitment. My early check-in request, which was visible on my Marriott Bonvoy app, was also changed at the last minute while I was enroute, forcing me to alter my plans unexpectedly. After waiting all day, I never received a check-in or electronic key on the app. So I finally want to the hotel later that evening and was told that an upgraded room was not available, but that I would be moved the following day. That upgrade never materialized, though I was assured my NUAs would be refunded instead.
During my 5-night stay, repeated attempts to resolve the issue with hotel staff were unsuccessful. At checkout, I was directed to email the manager, but after nearly six weeks of no response, I reached out to Marriott Bonvoy Platinum customer service. Despite their involvement and reassurances that the hotel team would contact me, I’ve yet to hear anything back from the property, even after multiple follow-ups.
While I appreciate that I could use points for my stay and didn’t mind missing the upgrade under the circumstances, it's disappointing that this hotel doesn't care about my loyalty and the value of my earned rewards. The continued silence from the hotel and the unresolved status of my NUAs and lack of accountability from a Marriott property is simply unacceptable.
⭐️⭐️ (Two stars: one for the clean room, one for the safe, though not terribly convenient location. The rest is overshadowed by poor service and...
