Read moreI was going to give this place a single star but I thought it would be generous to give it 2 because the waiter was friendly. However, this place is best avoided. First of all, the food took forever to come out of the kitchen. We had allocated about an hour and half for our stop over, but we ended up being here for over 3 hours. The complimentary bread was not provided until about half an hour after we sat down. While we were waiting, no one even asked us if we needed anything to drink.
I have eaten at similar places around this area before and their service has been quick and exceptional. This place is for those who just want to sit down and watch paint dry, if you find that sort of thing exciting.
When the food finally arrived, it was awful. The onion soup was insipid, just some stock with onions. The mussels were not great either, we didn't touch most of them. Then came the steak! It's generous to call it steak; this was the worst cut of steak I have ever tasted. It was chewy and full of tendons. A member of my party only took 2 bites and that was it. I am not fussy about food so I soldiered through it. I understand that steak is pricey and they are trying to meet a certain budget but they lowered the standard too low. Their pudding au porto is just a bread pudding which wasn't good. The mousse was awful, avoid it completely. The tiramisu was okay.
After we finished eating, we asked for the bill but this took over 20 mins to arrive. This would have been okay if the place was busy but it wasn't. There was only one other table with dinners so no reason or excuse for service to be slow. I would not be visiting this place again and I would recommend...
Read moreService was friendly and quick, the food awful, really. Nicoise salad, I should’ve sent it back. But didn’t want to be “that” American tourist & I needed some veggies. Green beans, tomatoes & hard-boiled eggs were okay, the rest - canned tuna, budget canned anchovies, some of the lettuce was ok, some turning, no potatoes & they added corn! Who puts canned corn on a Salade Nicoise? Add all that to the over abundance of dressing. Usually in France I don’t have to order dressing on the side. The waitress couldn’t believe I was done with the salad with most of the tuna & corn & some lettuce pushed to the side. I told her I didn’t care for it & she said most people love the corn. I told her it can make me seriously ill. She took it away, but still charged for it, no offer of reparation. The redeeming things were a decent wine selection & the Euros football (soccer) on TV. To add to the bad food, about 60-90 min later, I got suddenly & violently ill, good thing I was able to find une toilette. Better, right after it got out...
