While taking a walk my husband and I found this charming restaurant by pure coincidence. It looked so nice that we decided to take our chance and ask if we can have drink and something sweet (it was my birthday and we wanted to treat ourself with cake). Even the restaurant take bookings they did found us a table and we were seated immediately. We ordered drinks and some deserts. Staff was really friendly and explained all desserts we asked about so it made our choice much easier. And let me tell you desserts were absolutely incredible. While we were still looking at our plates admiring how the food looks my husband told one of the waiters that it is my birthday and she immediately left and came back with her colleagues bringing a big porcelain bowl filled with exquisite chocolate mousse with a birthday fire cracker. They sang me happy bday song and the entire restaurant applaud. It was such a nice gesture that I didn't expected at all. They filled us a plate with chocolate mousse and treated us with melon liqueur. It was a heartwarming moment and wonderful gesture from the staff even we just sat for a small treat. Even we didn't had dinner their menu was really tempting and with very reasonable prices. It is a must see place in Latin quarter in Paris. Thank you wonderful people of le Petit Bal Perdu for making my birthday so special. Special thanks to Josephine and Jeff from...

Tucked away on Rue Tournefort in the 5th arrondissement, just steps from the Panthéon, Le Petit Bal Perdu is the newest creation from the team behind Paris favourite Chez Janou. And yes — they’ve brought that iconic chocolate mousse with them.
The atmosphere is a well-balanced mix of vintage Parisian charm and playful flair: colourful wall art, old-school tiled floors, and a leafy terrace glowing with string lights. The service? Warm, efficient, and refreshingly English-friendly — a true gift for visitors.
The food leans into elevated bistro classics with a twist. Highlights include: • Tuna Tataki Tower layered with crispy wonton, sprouts, and a punchy soy-ginger vinaigrette • Duck Breast with crushed pistachios and roasted potatoes — rich, perfectly cooked, and generously portioned • Garlic-baked Mussels and crispy prawn cigars, which bring a fun, casual touch to an otherwise refined menu
The wine list is tight but thoughtful, featuring Pet-Nats, Champagne, and approachable French reds and whites, all at fair prices.
And let’s talk mousse: light, rich, and just as indulgent as the original from Chez Janou — except here, you might actually get a table.
A polished newcomer that’s already growing in popularity. Go now, before the...
Read moreMy family and I wandered off the Rue Mouffetard and happened upon this glowing center of energy and revelry around 22:00. We must eat here, we proclaimed! Much to our dismay, there was a line packed all the way up the stairs of patrons waiting for tables. Seeing that they were open till 01:00, we decided to wait it out. What a great decision!! Our server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and the food was phenomenal.
Starters: mussels, salad with pomegranates, melon, goat cheese, prosciutto, and mixed greens, and a terrine - so so good, all served with delicious bread.
Mains - duck, chicken; and shrimp - all hit the spot.
An Aperol spritz and glasses of Languedoc (a great recommendation by our server) and Chardonnay were perfect.
Thank you for the wonderful meal - our last for this visit to Paris!
