Le Rouge et le Verre — Restaurant in Paris

We were a party of 4, looking for an authentic place to eat. It was all our first time in Paris and were looking forward to eating at the restaurant. Before we arrived we read it was custom to wait to be shown to your seat in France, so when we got to the restaurant we did just that.

We stood by the door waiting to be shown to a table. The waiter saw us and ignored us; the restaurant was not overly busy and there were some free tables. We stood waiting for a little while and then a waiter eventually showered us to our table. Once we sat down, we were again ignored. We were not offered a menu, they did not ask us if we wanted anything to drink, it got to a to a point where we just looked foolish waiting.

I have never felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable in a restaurant. We needed up leaving the restaurant with out any staff members engaging with us and felt so much relief after.

Our visit to Le Rouge et le Verre was, without a doubt, one of the standout moments of our trip. Landing in France after a long journey and having just settled into our hotel, our cravings were clear: a delectable cheese platter and a satisfying bottle of wine.

Our server, Thomas, was more than attentive to our needs. Not only did he understand our desire, but he curated a selection that surpassed our expectations. The cheese platter he presented was exquisite, boasting a variety of flavors and textures that danced on our palates. Paired with a bottle of dry rosé, it was the perfect culmination of our wishes.

Le Rouge et le Verre truly embodies the classic Paris street café ambiance. With its inviting atmosphere and exceptional service, it provided the ideal introduction to our Parisian vacation.

First 🌟 French cave, lots of wine choices, he had a rapid chiller in the event the wine you chose isn't ❄ Cold . Second 🌟 food was great, tasty with choices and great wine to pair it with.

Over all 🌟🌟🌟🌟 great place and would go back, only this time I might not sit outside on a blistering hot day, as the aircon shoots out hot air under the chairs outside which he failed to mention when we sat so be forewarned then he laughed it off, maybe it was funny,😂 We couldn't figure out where the heat was coming from at our feet,😂 great in the winter I would imagine .
