Le Royal — Restaurant in Paris

For reservation: we made a reservation beforehand to come and told the restaurant that we are being a dog with us and wanted to sit outside. When we got there they left us a table surrounded by other tables where our dog’s tail literally touches other customers shoes. We didn’t want to bother other customers and so we asked if we can take the other empty table which is more isolated from other tables. He said he’s sorry because the waitress who works there booked the table for her friends. We are okay with that because clearly everyone got friends. But the table was still empty when we left. Then for the foods: onion soup is good, the steak was cooked in French standard (medium is actually rare). BUT the escargots were BITTER! This is why I’m giving one star for the food. This is probably the most basic mistake you can make when preparing and cooking snails. I had many snails before and this never happened.

Service: I think the waiter tried his best. He was just too busy and we understand that. The waitress didn’t help us at all but we saw what she was doing with other customers, including ask what wine they ordered when they wanted to order a same second round, forgetting to bring main dishes, forgetting customers, etc.

Atmosphere: The street is lovely and quiet at night. You can’t see the tower...

Holidaying from Scotland. Best meal we had in Paris!

And we ate VERY well whilst we were here on holiday. It was a last minute decision to get food after we came off the Senne boat tour and to be honest I didn't feel good about our prospects so close to the Eiffel Tower...

Yet we found this delightful place via searching on Google Maps for 4+ star places that didn't cost a fortune. We wanted to try snails and my partner wanted to try a french cheeseboard. This place had both. This restaurant was cheaper than all the other places we ate at too. A truly unexpected wonderful find.

The waiter was friendly, chatty and delightful. They even went and asked the chef for their recipe on how to cook what was the best green beans I'd ever tasted! Which they then told me - thank you so much! The waiter also gave me, my partner and my adult child a free shot of Cognac, since we are Scottish and had never tried it. They had visited Edinburgh in Scotland as a teenager about 15 years old (sorry I didn't catch your name to mention you!).

A fantastic way to spend our final meal on our final night. Thank you to everyone!

🇩🇪Wir hatten leider eine enttäuschende Erfahrung in diesem Lokal. Gegen 17:00 Uhr kamen wir an, um eine Zwiebelsuppe zu essen. Uns wurde mitgeteilt, dass die Küche erst um 19:00 Uhr öffnet, und wir wurden gebeten, später wiederzukommen. Also warteten wir bis 19:00 Uhr und freuten uns darauf, endlich etwas Warmes zu essen. Doch als wir zurückkamen, hieß es plötzlich, dass alle Tische reserviert seien.

Es wäre hilfreich gewesen, wenn uns vorab gesagt worden wäre, dass eine Reservierung notwendig ist. Stattdessen fühlten wir uns nicht willkommen und bekamen den Eindruck, dass Touristen hier nicht gleich behandelt werden. Eine solche mangelnde Hilfsbereitschaft hätten wir nicht erwartet.

Aufgrund dieser Erfahrung kann ich dieses Lokal leider nicht weiterempfehlen.

🇬🇧We had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. We arrived around 5:00 PM to have some onion soup. We were informed that the kitchen would only open at 7:00 PM and were asked to come back later. We patiently waited until 7:00 PM, excited to finally enjoy a warm meal. However, when we returned, we were told that all tables were reserved.

It would have been helpful if we were informed earlier that a reservation was required. Instead, we felt unwelcome and got the impression that tourists are treated differently here. This lack of hospitality was truly unexpected.

Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this place.

🇫🇷Nous avons malheureusement vécu une expérience décevante dans ce restaurant. Nous sommes arrivés vers 17h00 pour déguster une soupe à l’oignon. On nous a informés que la cuisine n’ouvrait qu’à 19h00 et qu’il fallait revenir plus tard. Nous avons donc attendu patiemment jusqu’à 19h00, ravis à l’idée de manger un plat chaud. Mais à notre retour, on nous a annoncé que toutes les tables étaient réservées.

Il aurait été utile de nous préciser à l’avance qu’une réservation était nécessaire. Au lieu de cela, nous nous sommes sentis mal accueillis et avons eu l’impression que les touristes ne sont pas traités de la même manière ici. Ce manque de courtoisie était vraiment décevant.

Suite à cette expérience, je ne peux pas recommander cet endroit. 🇹🇷Bu restoranda maalesef hayal kırıklığı yaşadık. Saat 17:00 civarında soğan çorbası içmek için geldik. Bize mutfağın 19:00’da açılacağı ve daha sonra geri gelmemiz gerektiği söylendi. Sabırla 19:00’a kadar bekledik ve sonunda sıcak bir şeyler yiyebileceğimiz için heyecanlandık. Ancak geri döndüğümüzde tüm masaların rezerve edildiği söylendi.

Rezervasyon yapılması gerektiği önceden belirtilseydi daha iyi olurdu. Bunun yerine, kendimizi hoş karşılanmamış hissettik ve turistlerin burada farklı muamele gördüğü izlenimine kapıldık. Bu tür bir ilgisizlik gerçekten hayal kırıklığı yarattı.
