You can't run out of options when dining in Paris. But in the area where we stayed near Folies Berges close to Montmarte, Asian inspired restaurants are plenty. So it was a nice surprise finding Mami. The cozy look brought us in, and the music they played kept the vibe hip and energetic! We were greeted by our server and ordered 2 peach flavored lemonades, a sampler board, guac n chips ( I love Mexican food), and later ordered the Mamie dessert. The board included serrano ham, cheese flambayed on a skillet, side salad, mini pickles, and pan-fried potatoes. The guacamole was as fresh as it gets, and the corn tortilla chips had a somewhat ranch flavor to balance it out. The lemonade tasted like peach Sprite, but it was a fresh welcome to the standard fountain drinks we are used to in the States. The Mamie dessert was a brownie with vanilla and chocolate ice cream, créme chantilly (whipped cream in French), and a homemade caramel drizzle. This was served in a mason style jar and was delicious! We didn't feel stuffed, but who wants to be at 11:30 pm? They are known for their burgers and other bites. A great variety on the menu. This evening we gave it another try after a very disappointing experience some months ago, which we wanted to write off as an unlucky bad night. Unfortunately, the waiters were chaotic and shouting at each other from the outset. The fish and chips we ordered we had to send back twice as it was uncooked beneath the batter. Table waiting was so poor that we had to wait 30 minutes to get a jug of tap water on a hot day.
Then, after one of us had not eaten any dinner at all – the second dish of uncooked fish and chips was inedible, not that the waiters asked, noticed, or could be told – we had a miserable 35 minute wait for the bill, which we had to ask for three times. All around us was a restaurant full of disappointed people trying to get the attention of waiters. Fish was struck off the bill, but then we were over billed for Perrier we didn't order. And then – no apology from the waiter for the fact one of us was leaving...

I politely tried to ask the waiter a question, but he completely ignored me. Then I went inside to ask the bartender if I could sit outside — he said yes, and that someone would come. I waited 24 minutes, but no one came, even though waiters kept passing by and ignoring me.
Finally, I went inside again and asked a female waiter if someone would bring me a menu and take my order. She pretended not to understand me and only replied in French. That was the final straw — I left and went to the café just across the street, where I was treated kindly right away.
Don’t waste your time here. After reading other reviews later, I’m just glad I didn’t stay — maybe I was saved from...
