Overall, a good dining experience but the service, while well intentioned, was wildly uneven throughout the night, resulting in a similarly imbalanced coursing pace. The food itself was generally good, but consistently flawed, and underwhelming as a result, especially given the pricing.
We started with the following:
Buffalo burrata (olive oil, basil) - the quality of the burrata itself was excellent but it could have been helped with more olive oil and a touch of salt.
Smoked swordfish carpaccio (ricotta, fennel, dill, organic lemon) - again, the quality of the swordfish was very good, but it needed more lemon. The additional lemon I then requested remedied this.
Spaghetti Pomodoro (Datterino tomato sauce, basil) - my daughter enjoyed this dish very much, especially the flavor of the tomato sauce itself. The pasta quality, from my single tasting, seemed extremely high.
Evergreen Spaghetti (intense basil and Parmesan pesto, toasted pine nuts) - my wife enjoyed the strong pesto flavor, but again this dish needed the aid of some salt.
Roasted chicken supreme (mozzarella, basil, grilled asparagus, Roman gnocchi) - this dish was perfect. The chicken was tender and succulent, roasted perfectly. The gnocchi was bland and forgettable.
My single cocktail, the New York Sour, was amateurishly made. Tasted terrible
Overall, a good but not great meal and the price of $200 USD for two adults and a child didn't fit the food or service quality. Wouldn't return on this basis, as it was one of the lower points of our dining experiences thus far.
Decor was lovely, and the patio seating outside...
Read moreA friend highly recommended Marcello, so I brought a perfumer friend who was in Paris for business, and she wanted to enjoy some good Italian food. The food was excellent—our starters, the calamari salad and carpaccio, were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!
Unfortunately, the service today left much to be desired. While we were still enjoying our starters, the waitress informed us that our main courses were ready and asked whether we’d like them served immediately or after finishing our starters. I clearly told her we preferred to finish the starters first.
Despite this, she returned five minutes later with the main dishes and, with only a brief comment about them getting cold, placed them directly on the table. This made our dining space uncomfortably cramped (as shown in the photo). I have to say, this is absolutely not normal. While I understand the concern about serving food promptly, we had explicitly requested to finish our starters first. In all my time dining in Paris, I’ve never seen a restaurant serve main courses while customers are still eating their starters, especially after being asked to wait.
This wasn’t a case of miscommunication either, as the entire conversation was conducted in French. Having lived in Paris for nearly four years and visited many restaurants, this was a first for me. To make matters worse, when we asked for the check, we waited 20 minutes to pay and leave.
The food was good, but no dish is worth enduring such...
Read moreThis Italian restaurant came highly recommended by a local Parisian as a great dinner spot for a traveling family—and it certainly lived up to the recommendation.
We were able to secure same-day reservations for indoor seating. The outdoor patio appeared to be very popular and was fully booked for both the 7–9 PM and 9–11 PM time slots. Although we were offered a 5–7 PM seating on the patio, we opted for a later indoor dining experience instead. If you want the patio, it appears you have to book several days in advance during the summer.
Our party consisted of two adults and two children, aged 11 and 13. Each of us ordered a different pasta dish, and all were thoroughly enjoyed:
-My 11-year-old chose the Spaghetti Pomodoro. She loved the flavor, though the portion size was a bit too generous for her. -My 13-year-old ordered the Evergreen, which featured a very bold basil flavor. -One adult had the Tagliatelle Carciofi e Limone, a beautifully balanced dish with rich, buttery lemon notes. -I selected the Linguini Polpettini, a hearty meat-based dish that was soooooooo good, every bite was enjoyed.
Our server was friendly and happily accommodated us in English, which we greatly appreciated.
While the atmosphere is fancy-er, it felt appropriate for children aged 10 and up. Families with younger children might find the setting too formal, but for our family, it was an...
