Oscar is a charming and well-executed dining establishment that delivers a memorable experience rooted in attentive service, a welcoming ambiance, and a thoughtful menu. Located in a walkable area with a vibrant atmosphere, the restaurant is best accessed on foot due to limited parking—though the short walk only adds to the charm of the visit.
From the moment we arrived, the customer service stood out. Staff were gracious, professional, and accommodating, creating a relaxed and enjoyable dining environment. The overall atmosphere was warm and inviting, with tasteful decor and a pleasant layout that contributed to a comfortable and intimate setting.
Cleanliness was clearly a priority—the dining area and visible kitchen spaces were well-maintained, enhancing the overall impression of quality and care.
The menu offered a variety of appealing options, with particular highlights including the ravioli, which was well-prepared and flavorful, and the lamb stew, which was hearty and satisfying with a well-balanced blend of seasoning and texture. Portions were appropriate and presentation was elegant without being overstated.
While parking posed a challenge, the quality of the experience at Oscar more than compensated for the inconvenience. It’s the kind of place that rewards those willing to explore a bit off the beaten path.
In summary, Oscar delivers solid culinary execution, excellent service, and a pleasant atmosphere in a desirable location. We would happily return and recommend it to others seeking an authentic and well-run French...

Upon my first night in Paris, I stumbled upon this place after touring on the Seine river (around 8pm on a Tuesday). I was greeted right away and although did not have a reservation, I was welcomed in and sat at a table. The service was impeccable: Freddie is so hospitable and charismatic, and really makes your experience. The food feels like a bonus! I loved it so much, I had to come back for my last night and ordered the same meal: boeuf with frites along with red wine (had the chocolate fondant with ice cream the first time but couldn’t find room in my stomach the second time around). The steak is so perfectly cooked and pairs so well with wine, I also loved the side bread as it was soft and perfectly crunchy on the outside and not too hard to tear.
Coming in for a second time Freddie recognized me right away and was happy to seat me again. He has a way of making you feel like family, from his jokes to excellent hosting. He was kind enough to provide two shots of what I think was an digestif on the house. All in all, a wonderful experience that really set the bar high for me during my whole stay. Merci Beacoup, Team Oscar! I can’t wait to dine...
Read moreI’ve been to this place twice and had two drastically different experiences. In April, I came with a French friend and had the veal kidneys which was hands down the best I’ve ever had. The service was excellent. I was so impressed, I returned in July with my mother. We’re both clearly foreigners, and I ordered the same dish. This time, the meal was burned beyond recognition, genuinely inedible (picture attached from both visits for comparison).
I raised the issue with the same waiter from my previous visit. He immediately got angry and defensive, and insisted it was “supposed to look like that.” Mind you, this is not a cheap restaurant. Only after I explained I’d had the same dish here before did he offer an alternative. From that point on, he made repeated passive-aggressive comments, which made both me and my mom extremely uncomfortable. The experience was completely ruined.
I can’t say for certain whether the poor treatment was due to being foreigners, but the contrast between the two visits, one with a local, one without, was stark and disappointing.
Shout out to the Portuguese waitress that was working there the same night,...
