The food itself was outstanding. Each dish was expertly prepared, with a delightful blend of flavors and fresh ingredients. The presentation was visually appealing, and it was evident that the chefs took great care in creating each plate. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite, and the quality of the cuisine exceeded my expectations.
However, there was one issue that impacted my overall experience—the demeanor of one particular female server. Throughout the meal, she displayed extreme coldness and indifference. Her lack of enthusiasm and engagement made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Maybe because I am Asian and not white? Maybe it's racist. It's crucial for the service staff to create a warm and friendly environment, and unfortunately, her behavior fell short in that regard.
Moreover, it was my mother's birthday, and I had mentioned this fact to the staff when making the reservation and upon arriving at the restaurant. I kindly requested a birthday song to surprise my mother and make her feel special. Unfortunately, despite reminding them several times(about 4 times) during the meal, we waited for nearly two hours, but the song never came. While I understand that singing birthday songs may not be a priority for the restaurant, it was disheartening to see my mother's disappointment.
Despite these shortcomings, I would like to emphasize that I understand the staff have their primary responsibilities and singing birthday songs might not be one of them. The disappointment I felt is more a result of unmet expectations rather than an outright flaw in their service. I appreciate the efforts put into the food preparation and the overall pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant.
In conclusion, the food at the Google restaurant was absolutely delicious, and the dining experience was generally enjoyable. However, the cold and indifferent attitude of one server, coupled with the disappointment of not receiving a birthday song for my mother, left a somewhat negative impression. I hope that the restaurant management takes note of these aspects and works towards improving the overall customer experience.
while the food at this restaurant was undeniably delicious, the overall experience was dampened by the lackluster and indifferent service. As a result, it would be challenging for me to choose this restaurant again in the future. However, for those who prioritize taste and are less concerned about service, this establishment may still be worth...
Read moreA bustling restaurant, part of a chain operating in France and Portugal. We must have arrived early as we got a table; crowd was lined up out the door by the time we left. A fairly cramped space, and maybe understaffed as the crew was moving non-stop serving and clearing tables. We ordered a platter (cataplana for 2) that included lobster, giant shrimp, crab, shrimp, squid, and mussels. We were told they ran out of mussels and so we got more shrimp instead. The platter was on a bed of tiny fries, and they gave us a plate of fries on the side as well as a pot of seafood rice. The lobster was decent, shrimp was nice and crispy (not mushy) and the flavoring had a kick to it. Squid was ok. Giant shrimp had so much meat, and texture more like lobster. Excellent. The stuffed crab was likewise terrific, a salad on steroids. The sauce/grease/seafood juices dripped onto the mini fries and that was amazing. The portion was just too huge for two people and could only finish half of the mini fries. The regular fries were nothing to write home about, same for the hard buns that were there when we sat down. The rice in the pot had soaked up most of the soup by the time we got to it, didn't change the fact that it was delish! We disassembled some of the seafood on the platter and put it into the rice, even better. A lengthy meal due to all the de-shelling that had to be done, but a nice hearty departure from the formal white tablecloth meals...
Read moreTo be honest, even giving 2 stars for the atmosphere feels generous. I visited the west branch last year, and although the interior felt old and we had to queue for ages as we couldn’t book, the food was nice — so this time I came to the east branch instead. Since we arrived just before the meal rush, it wasn’t too busy, and I thought we were lucky… but that feeling didn’t last long.
I came back because I had fond memories of the food during my spring trip, but maybe it was different because this was a different branch. The seafood soup was quite good, but the seafood platter was disappointing.
Perhaps lobster isn’t in season — it tasted like it had just been rinsed in water, bland and flavourless. The crab was also underwhelming — not sure why.
The lamb was okay in the middle section, but both ends were so tough I couldn’t eat them. And the side of chips could have fed 10 people — we didn’t even touch them. I felt terrible about wasting it and couldn’t help but wonder: will they just throw it away? Or reuse it somehow?
The staff, however, were friendly and gave good...
