Restaurant Can Alegria Paris Pigalle — Restaurant in Paris

The atmosphere of this restaurant was a bit off; cold. The server didn’t speak french which is not ideal but it can be overlooked as he was attentive and kind. The entrée we had was a plate of hummus to share- it was nothing special (bland) and for a price tag of 14€ I expected more. The bread was good though and the main plate, souris d’agneau, was tasty as well for a somewhat fair price (29€). However, it lacked flavour in my opinion. I’ve indeed had better ones in Paris for the same price. The red wine we got was good and reasonably priced (29-30€ the bottle). The coldness of the place, and somehow of the service as well (I believe it was the owner who tried to be welcoming a few minutes after we got there but seemed quite distracted when spoken to), and the lack of warmth are the main reasons I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend. We were there yesterday for my birthday. But the restaurant was just really disappointing. Nothing special but the price. The food was soso and no taste, we added salt and pepper four times to try to finish it. We didn’t order any drink because it was far to expensive, and didn’t worth it. Then the waiters seemed not really happy about it. We ordered veg- tajine and the lamb, the quality of lamb worst than expected, and veg- tajine was like a veg- bowl for rabbits. And we were not even sure if it is cooked in Tajine. It just ruined my birthday night. Very disappointed with the whole meal. We booked to celebrate my dad’s birthday last Friday. Unfortunately it was an underwhelming experience: although the restaurant looks really nice, the food was disappointing. The red wine came warm. The mains and starters were good, nicely presented but bland. The dessert was the most shocking part: the tiramisu was way past its prime, most likely having spent a couple days opened in a fridge cohabiting with fish.
