So I really wanted to like this place. The view of Paris from Skybar is quite nice, and the people really were quite friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately our experience during our visit was less than spectacular.
Even as guests of the hotel, we saw that to visit Skybar we had to make a reservation from a website to visit. We saw a Skybar kiosk in the hotel lobby, and asked the employee if we could go up and visit. The young lady was accommodating and checked availability. We were allowed (booked) to go up but for a very finite time, around an hour and twenty minutes, then we would have to leave we were told.
After arriving we were seated for approximately ten minutes, then were asked to move to a different table. We were a party of four and this was fine with us, even though we didn’t know why. Now at our new table a waiter came over and took our drink orders. We ordered a bottle of wine for three of us, and the fourth person in our party ordered a cocktail. When the waiter came over with the wine I commented on how nice the bar and view was, and he said, “that’s because we only allow quality people up here”. I guess we made the cut as we all exchanged some sideways glances. The waiter who now was attempting to open our bottle of wine was quite friendly and personable, but then snapped the top half of the cork off the bottle. I was not that surprised, as he was clearly struggling in his endeavor to open it up. Our forth person still hadn’t received her cocktail as the wine was taken away. Eventually (twenty minutes) the waiter returned with a new bottle (different from what we ordered) and then began his attempt to open another bottle of wine. I wanted to grab the cork screw and bottle from him, because I could see what was going to happen watching him attempt to open the second bottle. But I sat silent and watched him, you guessed it, snap off another cork halfway through (again) the extraction process. It’s now been 30 minutes since we ordered the wine and cocktail. A different waiter finally took over, removed the broken cork with the cork screw, and filled our wine glasses. As I enjoyed my wine I tried to ignore the cork floating in my glass, after all we were on deadline on how long we could stay, and truthfully we laughed it off.
We finished our drinks and asked for the bill. We were then presented with a 200 Euro tab which was 90 Euros more than the cost of our 1 bottle of wine and 1 cocktail. When we inquired about this discrepancy we were informed Skybar had a minimum 50 Euro per customer policy. We were not aware of this policy, perhaps its on the website I don’t know, but considering how poorly the wine service was handled, it seemed pretty brazen. We decided to spilt the bill using two credit cards. This was then completely screwed up, as the entire amount of 200 Euros was only put on one credit card Instead of both. A different person in our party was charged the entire amount. We decided to fix it amongst ourselves later, and left les than satisfied with our experience. However, 25 minutes later after returning to my room, Skybar then charged my credit card an additional $107.49, which is approximately 100 Euros. So now the total charges were 300 Euros for 90 Euros of drinks. The other person in our party that was charged the 200 Euros, went back up to try and resolve the overcharging. He was told to “email accounting” and was given the address. Two weeks have elapsed since he emailed them, and not surprisingly, no response has been received.
My employment requires extensive travel all over the world, and I visit Europe, Asia, And South America constantly. Skybar has a nice view, and so does dozens of other rooftop bars I’ve visited around the world. This is certainly one that I will avoid in the future, even if I’m staying at the Pullman hotel where...
Read more🌟 Not sure why the ratings for this place are so low—I'll admit I was a bit worried too, but I'm glad I went! 😊 I visited Paris for my anniversary and after dining at Bowfingers (which I HIGHLY recommend—the food is divine and the prices are a throwback to the good ol' 90s), we decided to check out SKYBAR.
✨ We wanted to see the Eiffel Tower light up at night and figured SKYBAR, one of the highest bars in Paris, would offer a stunning view. We arrived on a Sunday around 11:30 p.m. without a reservation. SKYBAR is located in a residential building, and you have to go to the second floor. There's someone at the entrance of the elevators who uses a key card to let you in. The gentleman there was very nice (yes, he gave me a quick once-over, but hey, dress to impress when you hit up a lounge! 😎). He asked if we had a reservation, and although we didn’t, it wasn’t a problem since it wasn’t too busy. If you're planning to go on a Saturday or catch the sunset, I’d recommend making a reservation.
🛗 After taking my name, the gentleman guided us to the elevator and then to the 32nd floor, where a lovely young lady greeted us and led us to our seats. The place wasn’t crowded—maybe about 10 people—so we had our pick of seats. We chose to sit outside, right by the DJ, where we could take in a breathtaking view of Paris.
🎧 The SKYBAR is modern and beautiful, offering plenty of picturesque moments. The drink menu featured around 10 unique cocktails, all of which sounded delicious. We opted for the classic Espresso Martini. A very nice gentleman named Neil took our order with a smile and made us feel truly welcome. Drinks ranged between €18-24—yes, a bit pricey, but for a place like this, totally worth it. Then again, I live in Miami, so maybe I'm used to it! 😜
🍸 Our drinks arrived in about 10 minutes, giving us plenty of time to snap some amazing videos and pictures of the Eiffel Tower. The Espresso Martini was quite good and generously sized. The DJ was spinning funk, which isn’t usually my jam, but I enjoyed it. Watching the Eiffel Tower light up (it sparkles for 5 minutes at the top of every hour until 1 a.m.) was absolutely magical. 🌟
🕒 We were the last ones to leave, but never felt rushed. On our way out, the manager asked if we had a good time and seemed genuinely interested in our experience. They’re probably working on improving their ratings, and I wanted to help because my experience was fantastic. I’d definitely come again—an incredible atmosphere with that unmistakable...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to this trip and had high expectations, especially for the evening at the Skybar. Unfortunately, we ended up deeply disappointed.
We had a reservation for 9 PM and were told to wait at the entrance until someone came to get us. That alone took 45 minutes. Once we were finally taken upstairs, we were informed that there were no tables available. We were told to sit at the bar and have a drink while we waited. One cocktail costs €25 – which is acceptable considering the view – so we agreed.
After another 45 minutes, we asked when we could expect a table. Again, we were told, “Sorry, no table yet, but feel free to have another drink,” which we did – after all, it was a special occasion. But then, after a total of 1.5 hours, we still had no table. What made it worse was seeing several guests who had arrived after us being seated.
Eventually, I lost my patience and asked more firmly. Suddenly, we were told, “Oh, sorry, yes, you’ll get a table now.” After waiting nearly 2 hours, we were finally seated.
When we got the bill, it was €170. Without thinking too much, I said, “Make it €190.” A moment later, I realized something was off and checked the receipt – we had been charged for too many drinks. When I addressed this, the response was: “Sorry, we can’t do anything about it, it’s already paid. You’ll get a refund within a week.”
I was really upset. I contacted the hotel, and their only advice was to send an email. I did – but now, 8 days later, I still haven’t received a reply or a refund. It felt like they simply didn’t care.
I don’t mind paying premium prices, especially for a place with that kind of view. But in return, I expect top-notch service – and neither the Skybar nor the hotel delivered that. We had really looked forward to this night, and it turned out to be a major...
