JJIN Korean Barbecue — Restaurant in Paris

My family and I were really craving good Korean BBQ after several days of Western cuisine during our Europe trip, and unfortunately, JJIN did not deliver. We visited for dinner on a Thursday night, hoping for an authentic and satisfying meal, but left deeply disappointed.

The restaurant atmosphere was quite nice. Great spot for dinner with friends, but not so much with the family, especially with young kids. The kimchi pancake (kimchi jeon) and kimchi stew (kimchi jjigae) were actually very tasty and hit the spot, which gave us a glimmer of hope. However, the meat—the star of Korean BBQ—was mediocre to bad. The ribeye and galbi were chewy, fatty, and bland. The meat also constantly stuck to the grill, making it very difficult to cook properly.

Compounding the poor food experience was the exceptionally poor service. We repeatedly struggled to get a server's attention, having to get up multiple times to wave them down just to change the grill, order more water, or request banchan refills. It was frustratingly slow, and the initial server didn't even turn on our grill until we pointed it out.

Having experienced excellent Korean BBQ and service in Asia and America, I can confidently say that JJIN falls far short. This was a very poor representation of Korean BBQ quality and service, setting a very low bar for French customers.

We had a lovely birthday dinner here. The food quality is really up to standards and meat is very tender and marinated well. I recommend the beef plate for two. Absolutely delicious. The service was slow at times but it's fine because of the atmosphere the restaurant creates everyone is talking to everyone. Very cosy and the lights are dim which gives a nice effect. It can get hot and smokey inside so be mindful about that. We also had a vegetarian friend with us and she had plenty of options so there is no problem there either ! Malgré une réservation, il fallait attendre devant le bar sans que les serveurs qui circulaient ne s’intéressaient à nous.. un peu limite quand même (je suis partie chercher une personne toute seule)! Le principe d’une réservation est d’être accueilli et installé rapidement… (le bartender/serveur s’est excusé et nous a préparé une table) Une fois installés, on constate que la hotte au milieu de la table était mal positionnée et d’ailleurs on ne pouvait plus se voir. Je pense que plusieurs ne fonctionnaient pas puisqu’il y avait tellement de fumé qu’ils ont laissé les portes ouvertes pour aérer (avec le froid ce n’était pas top). Passons à la cuisine.. La galette au kimchi est très savoureuse et la quantité est correcte. Par contre, la deuxième entrée « poulet dynamite » était certes généreuse mais pas qualitative, je suis tombée sur plusieurs bouts de nerfs et de peau et c’était gênant et désagréable en bouche. Pour le barbecue, j’estime que le prix est cher pour ce qu’il y avait : 4 tranches très fines de viande avec des os pour 35€ ? Heureusement qu’il y avait les légumes en accompagnement ! Même celui à 66€ pour 2 (servi à côté) n’était vraiment pas suffisant pour le prix payé. Pour le bibimbap, j’ai pris celui au poulet et j’étais déçue de la quantité du poulet: 4 morceaux frits également et des petites portions de légumes).
