Great value for money, love the location as it was not central central like just outside the Louvre, thanks to this not loud and not full of tourists, but still very well located to explore the city. We’ve had all we needed just outside the door, nice restaurants and bars, where you don’t have to pay hundreds of Euro for some petit portion. Good drinks and atmosphere also among people, I was not sure what to expect as it was my first time in Paris and for some reason I never wanted to visit, but also thanks to your hotel I fall in love with Paris. Also all sort of shops including supermarkets, train and metro station. It took us less than an hour to get to the hotel with metro B from CDG airport. All main attractions are walking distance - we walk a lot - but you can also take a taxi or metro or bus. Ok I must admit that when booking the hotel I saw the building and thought to myself - who on earth gave them permitían to build something like that in this historic area… but than I saw the Montparnasse Tower near by… and decided not to judge the book by its cover. Inside everything is modern and renovated, everything you may need is there. The rooms are nice and good size - not like London’s if y’all know what I mean, clean, stuff was very friendly. Our room was modernized and had a small balcony from which we’ve seen the Eiffel Tower! Thank you very much for that, I appreciate it. The bed was confiable, could be a little bigger but I’m just being fussy as we are both tall and well built and in most of the hotels we would wish for bigger bed. Also a table and two chairs and that was helpful. Love that the fridge was really working well, not like in most of the hotels where they just give you a fridge working 30% cool… also they give you water daily, tee and coffee. Very nice, big and new TV - I know it’s not about watching it when in Paris… but I would like to see more international channels, there were 3 English (including some BBC news but some dedicated to a region or so) one German, one Italian and I think that was it… but the tv is new so you can connect it to you iPad or other divide and share the screen and watch something on your favorite online platform. Bathroom was ok, I know they can’t be huge, the shower was ok, no problems at all but the ‘toilet area’ was developed for a really tiny people, however It was clean and that’s a plus as well and with all you may need. Our room was overlooking the ‘garden’ area, garden unfortunately was not kept in shape but the chickens were a star from me, love the idea of city farming. All this really made our stay superb, we didn’t have to worry about anything, everything worked really well and the balcony was a cherry on the top of the cake for...
Read moreI'll quickly run through the reasons why this hotel barely even deserves 2 stars (and is probably best avoided) in no particular order:
Firstly, according to staff the air conditioning system isn't turned on until June.. I suppose in the depths of winter this is fine but in any moderately warm weather as experienced last week, rooms become unbearably hot and sleep is a mere wish. Open to windows to cool the room and due to the location you'll be quickly shutting them again, the street noise is intolerable. The phone in my room didn't work for the entire 4 days of stay, even after multiple asks to staff to fix the issue. If you need/want to iron a shirt don't expect the usual ironing board to be delivered to your room, instead you'll need to find the dank small cleaning closet that also acts as an "ironing room", with the ironing board bolted to the floor. I'm not sure how many people steal ironing boards but it appears to be a serious problem in this area of Paris. The shower is difficult to use as the tube carrying water is to short to manoeuvre the shower head to any reasonable height, so be prepared to crouch. There appears to be significant issues with the key card magnetic strips. They need to be constantly re magnetised, at least once a day. It is an infuriating issue, especially after traipsing up the stairs to your room to find yourself locked out. Room menus and other general information are only written in French, I understand you're situated in the French capital, but I assume a number of non French speakers visit the hotel, so having information in English as well as French would be useful.. If you must visit, get a room on a lower floor as the lifts take an age to arrive. You'll often be waiting 5+ minutes after calling one.
However, the hotel manages to just eke out 2 stars rather than one, as the breakfast isn't half bad (although the seating decor is just bizarre) and its general refurbished appearance. Although the refurb appears to have just plastered over the serious...
Read moreCompact hotel right in the heart of Montparnasse. Rooms are compact too with a double bed. There is a mini-fridge, safe, electric hot water kettle - no iron though. A strong plus is the water pressure and the instant hot water through faucet and shower. Daily attentive and friendly cleaning service. Coffee and Breakfast served downstairs. For vegetarians choices are limited. But the location is great and you can always find good choices outside. The beauty about this is the location - as soon as you step out you have a multitude of cafes, bakeries, restaurants within a block or two and much much more. Here's a secret - walk a couple of blocks to La Parisienne on Rue D'Odessa first thing in the morning for some of the very best croissants, bread, etc. Two major metro stations are a block away on either side of the hotel (6 - Edgar Quinet and 13 - Gaité) - hence easy to connect from anywhere. Gare (Station) Montparnasse is 300 meters away and many restaurants, department stores (Monoprix, M&S) and facilities and regional trains are accessible here. Almost all the major attractions (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Museum D'Orsay, Luxembourg Gardens, Notre Dame) are in a approximate 2 mile radius (good walk - but that's the fun in exploring Paris). At the end of day - if you are out and about - it serves its purpose of convenience of a clean facility and room, nice hot shower, good bed, friendly courteous staff, fast elevators, etc. Our room was on the 6th floor with a little walk-out balcony and a clear view of the...
