A truly awful experience. Every restaurant makes mistakes. Generally, I find them to always be forgivable. No one is perfect and errors will happen. How the restaurant deals with the mistakes, though, that makes a big difference. We waited an hour and a half for our starters. Our main courses arrived before the starters. They took the main courses away then we waited another 30 mins for the starters. They forgot to open the wine. They forgot to bring a carafe of water. The starters that arrived were both wrong. They persuaded us to eat the starters we were given and said they would be free. To be fair, they were very tasty. We spoke to the head waiter. He offered us free champagne as an apology. It never arrived. The main courses arrived. Mine was good but my girlfriend's was over-cooked. We complained to the waiter and he just ignored the problem. Because we were so hungry, she ate it anyway and we told the waiter we didn't want to pay for her main course. Again, he did, and said, nothing. We asked to speak to the head waiter. We agreed to pay half of my girlfriend's main course with him. The bill arrived with the full amount for the main course still on. We refused to pay and asked to speak to the head waiter again. He argued with us they they have been very reasonable with us and we countered with all the mistakes that had been made. He then claimed he only offered us one glass of champagne. Until this point we had been good natured and even giggly. Now we felt we had to raise our voices. We demanded to speak to the manager but he said that was impossible. Personally, with hindsight, I think we should have left our name and address and insist on hearing from the manager/owner before paying anything. Instead we compromised and paid a reduced bill. He tried to guilt trip us over it...
Read moreThe vibe was good, but the service was bad. (The most important part is at the end.) Many times I looked and waved at the waiter, he just walked straight pass.
First we ordered drinks, a alcohol-free Spritz and alcohol-free beer. The beer was okay and the spritz tasted weird. 🫤 I asked for a coca-cola instead. The cola was the BEST thing of the whole meal.
Regarding the main dish, it tastes okay. French fries was overburnt. When the waiter asked me how the meal was, I said “The fries was… [burnt]” He said “Oh yea the machine was broken”. My thought is “Oh yea your machine is broken and you can still make fries 🙄”
In addition, the tomatoes was not fresh, they were germinating.
When we checked the bill, I asked them to take off the Spritz from the bill, and they REFUSED. They responded “We made it so you have to pay it.” How RUDE that was. My only thought was ‘they need my money to FIX the frites machine’.
When we are back at the airbnb, both of us suffered from DIARRHOEA. Our guess was the beef tartare had something wrong. What an...
Read moreWe came here as a big group and it was a last minute booking so we were very grateful that they managed to squeeze us in.
The food was amazing, very flavoursome, the staff were friendly enough, it felt like they were a little irritated by us, but that could have just been their mannerism.
My only small complaint was I ordered a starter and the waitress clearly heard me and wrote it down, but because no one else had one it’s like she decided to leave it off, we weren’t charged for it but I was really excited about trying it…
The black Pig is yummy by the way, and this was a very welcome meal after walking around all day and going to the Champagne tours.
Avoid the Crème Brulee...
