This cozy, spirited and affordable little gem of a spot was the highlight lunch for our family visit to St. Malo. Upon our visit, the daily chalkboard menu featured among other things a number of classic monsier sandwiches with choice of daily soup or fresh salad. We all went this route and ordered a fine bottle of chablis. (Good move) Plates arrived faster than I’d hoped since the cafe also had a few lovely curated crates of vintage LPs for sale which were in collector condition. The lunch delivered bigtime, sandwiches hit the mark for sure, but the salads I have to say were as fresh and perfectly dressed as you could hope for. What makes the place extra special is the warm and welcoming host Yann whose infectious energy makes it all the more special and memorable. Will...

I’ll start with the food, because while the ambience is lovely the food is the most important part. I got the combo of the classic croque ham and cheese, a gazpacho soup and a duck confit salad. Everything was great, fresh ingredients and good flavor. The duck confit salad however, WOW. Maybe it’s because I’m from the U.S. but rarely does a salad get this kind of love and attention. A flavor profile that is savory with a hint of sweetness and a lovely complexity of ingredients. Just order it or order anything really and you’ll be set. On another note the antique type of setting is lovely. I ate lunch at an old sewing table. The owner was also so kind and personable, explaining all the items to me from their French menu and with an obvious passion for what they are...

Best veggie croque I have ever had. It was made with caramelised onions, nuts and cheese and it was heaven on a toasted sandwich. Like onion soup croque. I would recommend everyone to eat here. The other croques, soups and salads were just as good. Salad was not just some lettuce with oil but lots of different tasty add-ons, good salad! The server and other personnel was extremely nice, introducing you to the menu in a fun way. Trendy and authentic restaurant with kind working people. Toilet could be just a little cleaner but absolutely worth visiting this restaurant. Prices are also very good for the food you are getting. Can't recommend enough. Would travel 7 hours just to eat this veggie...

Cafe Cargo Clute absolutely lives up to its Google rating. The owner was incredibly friendly and spent a good five minutes walking us through the lunch menu, sharing his personal favourites and suggesting thoughtful pairings. His passion for the café was obvious, and you can tell a lot of care has gone into curating the menu. We had the lunch special and tried all three croques—each one was excellent. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the gazpacho was spot on for a warm, sunny day. Of course, we had to try the oysters too, which were fresh and juicy—an absolute treat. A great find in St. Malo—highly recommended!
