La Taverne is a cultural phenomenon. You never know what to expect here. There is a list of regulars who come back almost every single day. The servers are simply angels and incredibly kind. It's a bar that unites everybody together. Very affordable simple drinks and snacks. I don't think there is a better happy hour deal anywhere else. The atmosphere is very cozy and you can see that this bar is dearly loved. In the morning it's almost a library where you can work and read in peace and at night it's where you can meet interesting people, drink and dance. There are some important things to note about it that you may not know going in: Monday nights are international nights, so there's going to be a lot of exchange students with whom you can talk in many different languages BUT it's going to be a MASSIVE amount of people, so if you prefer a calmer bar atmosphere, go on Tuesdays-Thursdays because Mondays & Fridays are extremely popular here. The hot chocolate is just a spoon of kiddy chocolate powder with cheap hot skimmed milk and disgusting spray can artificial sugar Chantilly cream, it’s revolting. Place has an anarchist bohemian vibe but that’s the only good thing. The piss beer and frozen food, coffee is cheap and also tastes just that.
