I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant, not because of the food — which was actually very good — but due to the service and attitude of the staff. I walked in alone without a reservation and politely asked if they accepted walk-ins. The waitress hesitated, and I would have left if she said no, but she allowed me to take a seat.
I only wanted a starter and a drink, but she insisted I must order a main course. I agreed and asked for a takeaway. Before I could even finish my sentence, she interrupted me to say I couldn't order just "xyz" for take away — something I wasn’t even trying to do. Her tone felt unnecessarily abrupt.
What felt worse was that she continued to seat other customers who also didn’t have reservations. Then, barely 10 minutes after serving me (at 7:50 PM), she asked if I’d be done by 8:30 because the table was reserved — even though other tables were available.
I would have completely understood if I had been told upfront that no tables were available. But once a customer is seated, they should be allowed to enjoy their meal without feeling rushed...
Read moreHonestly, it’s probably the best dine in restaurant in Strasbourg that authentically offers Indian cuisine. As a strasbourgeois , living here for some time, I have tried many other Indian restaurants that are apparently famous among the locals (including people of Indian origin) and haven’t even closely liked the food.
Having dined in on various occasions, I have tried almost all of the dishes that they offer and each and every one of them has never ever disappointed me.
All of their ingredients are fresh, (their paneer is fresh and not ordered in from India!) Even their decor comes from Delhi ka banjaara market.
Their food is not paneer / chicken pieces in orange gravy. Every dish has its authentic and unique taste and it really does remind you of home. Their Samosa Chana Chaat will bring back memories from « Gupta ji Chaat Bhandaar » And their paan kulfi will take you for a stroll through the streets of Chandni Chowk!
If you want a glimpse of home , let your Indian palette stride in and have its nostalgia...
Read moreWe decided to visit this place due to its great reviews but we were really disappointed. The service was really shocking here. We ordered 1 mains, 1 starter, Naans and Mango lassi but they said we need to order two mains or two starters. This was really strange for us. They have a policy that you should order atleast two mains, this was new to us as we have travelled all over europe and never found such policy. We couldnt eat mains with rice, naans, two starters, mango lassi at a time, it was too heavy and we had to takeaway half of stuff. Also the food was not that good, paneer makhani tasted only of tomato puree and no spices. Samosa chat was good though. Also keep in mind that this place only has 5-6 tables and the tables are too close to each other. When we ordered two starters and mains there was no place for plates and it was very congested. We would not...
