We loved this hotel primarily for its location and the amazing concierge team. The Notre Dame Cathedral, restaurants, and shops were all 3-5 minutes away by foot. A little farther, Petite France was about a 10 minute walk. And the concierge team was right there, 24-hours, to assist with restaurant reservations, an extra pillow or towel, information about area attractions or events, or any issue that might arise. In all our travels, I have never felt so comfortable with hotel staff. They were kind, professional, and helpful. They seemed genuinely interested in their guests.
The breakfast was an attractive buffet of fresh fruits, breads, pastries, coffees, teas, yogurts, juices, eggs, meats (hot and cold), granola, and more. The breakfast area seemed spacious if you arrived early, and a bit cramped at peak capacity. The area was comfortable and clean. It was always a good start to the day.
The rooms were clean and nicely decorated with modern fixtures. Perhaps the only issue we had was the shower - no shower door closure and no grab bars - the water ran onto a flat slippery shower floor and right onto the bathroom floor. Within seconds the floor and the rug where it met the edge of the bathroom were soaked. We dealt with it by angling the showerhead, making a little towel dam, and did not complain to the staff.
Our travel companions had a shower/tub design. They have mobility issues, and they had a bit of difficulty getting in or out of the tub, as again, there were no grab bars.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay, and would stay at the Hotel...
Read moreExcellent location steps away from the heart of Strasbourg. Could see the cathedral from my window. Spacious and clean rooms, nice and cold air conditioning, modern and upscale bathrooms, beautiful windows to enjoy the architecture nearby. ||Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had at a hotel, featuring fresh fruit, local jams and honey, and the most delicious local yogurt I’ve ever had in any flavor you could ask for!! I was not planning on having breakfast here and did on multiple days of my stay. ||Service was mixed. Some being very warm and friendly and others more efficient. I later saw other guests being given a map and orientation to the area upon check-in while I was not, and that would have been appreciated. I also needed to catch a train and was departing around 5am in the morning, and much to my surprise there were rowdy and drunken people on the streets right outside the hotel. I managed the walk to the tram at that hour but it was not the best as a solo female traveler. The receptionist attempted to contact a taxi for me but there was a long wait and they otherwise seemed like they didn’t know what to do or what recommendation to give me on the safest way to get to the tram station, which was a bit of a disappointment. ||Otherwise, during the day I felt very safe and was delighted with the location...
Read moreWe were on the top floor or the attic of the hotel. The elevator didn't reach all the way to our floor, but they offered to bring our bags up. Get to the room, and we realize that the top floor is the attic, so the room's walls are slanted (not terrible in the actual room, but in the bathroom it is). There is no mirror in front of the sink (that is at an angle you can do anything with). The slant is in the bathroom is terrible. I'm 5'6", and I could barely fit my height under the showerhead. Not sure how someone above my height would wash their head without ducking/crouching.
The best part of our stay was when the AC decided to kick it at 12AM local time. When the AC started back up again, it sounded like someone stepped on a cow's tail every 10 seconds. We turned it off, hoping to get some sleep, and we opened the window. The airflow was not enough to combat the rising heat to our floor, so we woke up in a pool of our own sweat in the middle of the night and turned back on the AC unit. Because the sole purpose of a hotel is to get a good night's rest, I am giving...
